Re: Annapolis Mall- possible replacement for M&S

I didn't even know M&S was gone, which tells you how long it's been since I've been to the mall.  Happy to say we didn't need to go for xmas shopping at all!

  • Ugh.  Did anyone see the Undercover Boss episode that featured them?  It just further sullied them in my eyes.  The executive level management played like they didn't get how offense their product is--as if the people who were offended by Hooters were crazy or just didn't get it and the mid-mangers are sexist pigs.

I couldn't believe how much they plugged that they were helping young women get their foot in the door and how many of their waitresses go on to be mangers, etc and that justified their obectification.

Actually there was a door from M&S into the mall and an internal wall that could probably be opened up.

I don't know if this is truly legit, but it's somewhat horrifying- that being said I am sure the midshipmen would love it. Ugh.

    Interesting...never noticed that door.
  • It wasn't a big entrance- like no hostess station or anything, but there is definitely a door and a handicap ramp- I pushed a stroller through the dining area there more than once to go to happy hour.

There is something infinitely less classy about taking your kids to happy hour @ Hooters than @ M&S.

  • My company Holiday party was at M&S this year.  Service for a private event was awful and the food was OK - but I'm a food snob thanks to work.

I had no idea they were closing.  Once Greene Turtle opens up, we will be quite the college hangout near the mall!

  • Where is Green Turtle going?  Sheesh, all they need is a Looney's.

Where Copeland's/Casa Grande used to be. I'm still bitter they got rid of them!

  • ugh. i had a friend who worked there in college and she hated it. she did it for the $, but she said they constantly pressured them to do bikini calendars and crap like that.

Totally not judging at all, but were there no other places to work at? I made more money in college bartending than I did out of college with a degree and it didn't require bikini contests (hah thankfully for the customers!). I don't mind Hooters or anyone that works that, I just see it somewhat like stripping. There are other options if you don't like it..

I do realize that could be a totally sheltered opinion so I honestly am asking, is Hooters it for some people?

I would think waiting tables at Hooters could be more profitable than waiting tables other places if you are willing to work it a little bit.

Yeah, she was told by a few other friends that was the place to be out of all the local restaurants if you wanted to make the money. But it wasn't her thing and she only lasted a couple of months. She wasn't the type to work it a little bit....she's more the type to knee someone in the groin if they made an inappropriate comment ;)

  • So I'm trying to figure out if this is true because I work for a local magazine and need to know .... but according to a local blog, it's not true. Hmm...off to find out!

It was posted on Punk's FB wall w/ the disclaimer that it didn't look 100% legit because it was on the outside of the door, not the inside, etc. but who knows?
