I absolutely loath dress shopping for bridesmaid dresses or special occasion dresses. I had to go order my bridesmaid dress for my cousins wedding tonight. The 10 fit through the hips and needed to be taken in through the top. My hip measurements where taken OVER my jeans making them larger than I know they are. When I went to be checked out the lady told me I needed a 12 because the hip measurements match there. She proceeded to tell me that the 10 only fit because it had be tried on before multiple times ect.
I was stupid and order the 12, lets pray it can be altered and keep the shape.

Re: Dress shopping vent
I have to go bridesmaid dress shopping with FSIL next week and am not looking forward to it. In order to get a dress that will cover my boobs I have to get it like 50 sizes bigger and then get it altered. Big $$$$ for a dress I'll only wear once.

Totally understand. At least this is just a simple black dress and I can wear it again if I want to.
Lucky! Mine has to be in "Oasis" blue.

Interesting. Mine for my brother's wedding has to be "tealness" . That one I diffidently won't be wearing again.
Seriously, everything FSIL likes looks like a high school prom dress. I think I'll donate mine to one of those organizations that gives "formal" dresses to underprivileged girls once I'm done with it.

That definitely happens. I made the mistake once of not listening to them when they told me that and ordered the BM dress in the size I thought I should be. Yeah, I had to take water pills a few days before the wedding in order to fit into it. Same thing happened with my wedding dress, but I had lost weight between ordering it and the wedding so it was okay, but not nearly as big on me as I thought.
I was supposed to be in BIL's wedding last year, but H ended up being gone for it so I didn't want to go all the way home myself for it. Totally dodged a bullet on that because the dress was going to be at least $150 and in a color I would never ever wear again.
Absolutely. This is also why I politely decline being in weddings now unless it is a super close friend.
