activities/teams/classes for a 3 y/o
I'm looking into enrolling J in something... anything. He has so much energy to burn. I also would like him to have that "social life"... I've been a bad mommy and neglected the mommy group scene the entire 2011.
Any suggestions? I'm taking him to preview a gymboree sports class tonight. He was in gymboree from the age of 6 months to 2 yrs. So... Besides that. Any other suggestions?
Re: activities/teams/classes for a 3 y/o
We are doing sports through the YMCA. DS is in Basketball right now (2 more weeks left) then at the start of next month (one or two more weeks to register though) they will start Soccer, then in April they have Baseball.
Basically they have a schedule where the sports (for 3 yr olds) don't overlap and there is about a 2 week break between each sport "season". The 1st couple of weeks of the season is one practice a week, then it is one practice a week plus one game. Practices are about 45 minutes and so are games.
I take F to gymnastics, swim lessons and dance class. She outgrew Gymboree pretty quickly.
So Tasty, So Yummy
soccer & gymnastics are excellent energy-burners.
karate (depending on the gym, some start earlier than others)
like PP said, check your local YMCA and see what kinds of programs they have. ours were in preschool/daycare by that age, so they were getting their energy out with activities there all day. DS started soccer when he was 3 and loved it at that age.
i also bought a high-quality commercial grade foldable gym mat for our living room. once they start learning the gymnastics stuff, they want to do it all the time!! we have used that thing SO much. he's 11 now, and we still use it in the living room when he wants to practice martial arts dives and stuff. it makes a huge difference vs. carpet.

DS is not 3 yet but we plan on doing swim lessons and indoor soccer this summre.
He has tons of energy and need to release it!!
Have you thought about MDO programs. Ours has a recess and PE time(someone comes from a local gym) as well as chapel time where they get to sing and dance. Over a one day period he is doing something active for about 2.5 hours.
thank you ladies for the suggestions!
YMCA starts practice for baseball (for 3 y/os) on March 5th. So we might just start that. I will look into little gym as well.
The only issue I have with MDO is that its from 9-2pm. I have to work, and work pretty far from home... the MDO I wanted to enroll him in is close to my job- but far from my home and my mothers.
Hopefully we work something out, but in the meantime i will continue to search. I appreciate the suggestions. I would love for him to be in gymnastics- I was and loved it.
