carseat wwyd

We're trying to figure out carseats.  DD's still in her infant bucket, but I think we'll probably move her soon.  We have a britax roundabout for DS.  We're debating just getting a similar convertible carseat for DD or geting a carseat that converts to a booster later on for DS and use the roundabout for DD.  Anyone with experience have thoughts on which is better?  We'd have to buy a booster later on anyhow, right?

We're looking specifically at the britax frontier, if that helps.  DS is 3 1/2, average height and super skinny, so I'm not worried about him outgrowing his carseat any time soon.

Re: carseat wwyd

  • If your DS is FF, I would buy a Nautilus for him (since it will get him all the way through the rest of his car seat/booster years) and give the Roundabout to your DD.  My oldest has a Nautilus and we love it - it's a great seat.

ditto this.  We got DD a nautilus for DD when DS was ready for the convertible.  Then we got DS a nautilus as well once he was forward facing.  I like the fact that we don't have to buy another carseat....ever!

  • He is ff.  This is helpful--all the carseat stuff makes me a bit confused.

  • DS is almost 40 inches and is about to outgrow the RF-ing limits in his Roundabout.  We just got a Frontier 85 so that we can use the Roundabout in another car and I already love it (installed it about a week ago).  I looked at the Nautilus and the Frontier but ended up with the Frontier because of the higher limits for 5-point harness (I want to say up to 120 lbs and 5'5") and the fact that the straps were easy to adjust (and the crotch strap can be adjusted too which has made getting DS buckled in so much easier already).
