Dilemma

One of my favorite authors just released a new book, and he signed every copy of the first print run. I want it sooooo bad, but I just got a kindle AND I just purged my book collection. But I didn't get rid of any of his books, and I have them all signed.

Also, he's doing an event/signing about 20 minutes from here that I want to go to. But it's on my due date. And he's a YA author, and his events are always jam packed with nerdy teenagers. As much as I want to see him again, I do not want to be the old and extremely pregnant chick at a gathering of nerdfighters (yes, that's what they call themselves).

So, do I buy the paper book? Or do I just download it? Do I go to the gathering? Or do I spend that evening bouncing on a yoga ball and eating eggplant parmesan?

For reference: John Green, The Fault In Our Stars, nerdfighters.

Re: Dilemma

  • I bet if you send him and the store this as an email they will let you preorder a signed one and send it to you. Have your book and eat your eggplant too.

  • I would definitely buy the paper book.  I'm torn on the gathering.  On one hand, I would hate the idea of waiting in line in a large crowd.  On the other hand, if a Harry Potter movie had come out on my due date, you can bet I would have been at the midnight premiere (making it home 2 full hours before my water broke!).  I like mod's suggestion.  If you make it to your due date and are still feeling good, can you go to the gathering at the last minute?

See, now you've got me interested in Divergent, I hadn't heard of this one!  Have you read Wither?  The first book in the Chemical Garden Series?  I just finished it a week ago and it hooked me enough to want to read the next one which comes out in February I believe.

The Books of Ember series was also suggested to me as a good read as well.
