Tuesday Randoms

Re: Tuesday Randoms

  • Good morning all. I'm ok. Just at work as usual. I'm determined to get some (home)work done today.

Nothing interesting to report this morning. Sale old stuff- different day.

    Have a good one!

  • GOOD MORNING!!!!

I made it to the gym to do and did an extra long workout b/c yesterday I decided gym time = nap time. So I did my weight lifting schedule from yesterday in addition to today's schedule.

I made Chicken Bruschetta last night and it turned out pretty well. I think next time I would make the bruschetta the day before so the flavors can mingle. I'm debating on dinner tonight. Chicken again or Breakfast Casserole???

It's suppose to be nice and warmer these next 2 days and then the dreaded "S" word has been spoken for the weekend. BnG & Diana: if your coming up this weekend drive safe.

  • I do hope we get snow - would be nice to use my XC skis this year :-)

  • I'll take this weather over snow anyday!

  • Morning girls!  I'm running way behind today.  I need to order groceries before I get in the shower so I can run some errands today.  I also need to do some cleaning for Hudson's birthday party on Saturday.  Speaking of which, does anyone have any ideas for party favors for kids ranging in age from 2-5 years?

Deeder, good job on going to the gym.  3 more weeks and I can start working out again.  I can't wait!

consumable items  - snacks, coloring books, activtity sets, etc.  I really like the pouches with small coloring book, four crayons, and stickers. They sell for  $1. Sometimes they have them in the dollar bin at Target. Otherwise I have found them at Dollar General or Family Dollar (I can't remember which one.). They usually are Disney related - Cars II, etc.

  • Hi everyone.

GoodG, are most of the kids travelling?  Maybe something for the car on the way home.  GVSU had good ideas.  I picked up a small version of the magna doodle at the dollar store 2 months ago.

  • The girls received mini dollar store verisons of the felt coloring kits at a Christmas party and it kept them busy for a long time.

  • Jim is at home with an ear infection.  I finally made him go to the M6 center of St. Mary's last night, he was so out of it and miserable.  Already showing signs of improvement; modern medicine is amazing.  His first class is tonight.

I'm wondering if anyone can help me out.  After freeing my computer from its virus captive, I go to "all programs" and there's nothing there.  Most of the programs are still on the computer (they'll pop up if I search for them, with the exception of maj jong;) ).  Anyone know how to reconfigure so they show up in my "all programs" menu?

  • I'm not suggesting this for a favor, but know what else kept the girls busy for the longest time. A decorate your own toothbrush that they got in their stocking.

They had so much fun with this thing. We had them do it on NYE while we were getting dinner ready. It was great. They worked so hard at putting the stickers on.

  • Okay, I'm definitely checking the dollar bins at Target.  We have about 10 kids coming so I don't want to spend a ton.  I'm thinking maybe of a "grab bag" where the kids can choose a favor???

SweetPea - My Jim just got over a bad ear infection and hemorrhage.  I've heard they've been going around.  Crazy!  I hope he feels better soon!

  • It's Tuesday and I got to come in later but it seems like the day is dragging and I want to take a nap.

    Anyone else feel this way?

Knowing how my two kids are, i wouldn't suggest because

    a) it would take them FOREVER to chose an item and then they will keep changing their mind.

    b) there will be a popular item that you won't have enough of and then there will be hurt feelings because someone didn't get one.

how about a favor bag with a capri sun, one bag of snacks (gold fish crackers, fruit snacks, etc.), maybe one fun candy treat, and a coloring book of some sort. It sounds like the kids are close enough in age that you don't have to worry about customizing it to age levels.  You could probably spend less than $3 per kid.

  • What is the theme of the party?
  • GoodG, you should have outsourced the favors to gvsu. ;)

My Jim has chronic ear infections (and often has to have tubes).  He lost hearing in one ear in high school.  I can always seem to tell when one is coming on before he does.  He talks REALLY loud, and is way less patient with the kids.  I hope your Jim is all healed up.  Having an ear infection as an adult is a good reminder of what the wee ones go through.  OW!

  • So I booked our summer vacation today. We are going to the same place we went to last year (middle of nowhere IL) with my CW's timeshare. It worked out well last year. The kids liked the pool and mini-golf course and it was close enough to Chicago area that we could take day trips.  I'm excited to go back.

  • I know that GR has a tax calculator. You could try and it might give you a ruff estimate
