With DH working long days on Mondays and Wednesdays, we're going to look into daycare for Piper and Bueller, and I may start bringing Elsie to work with me on those two days.
I'm curious as to what you all pay, and what kind of packages you've found the most useful.
I'm looking at a 20 full day pass, that has to be used within 120 days, and would give them about 10 hours at daycare for $750. Does that sound reasonable?
Re: Daycare Rates
I think that doggy daycare probably works the same as child daycare as far as different rates for different geographies.
For example, just yesterday I researched day care for a pooch we are considering adding to our home. I found that the going rate where I live is around $15.00 a day for the first dog and around $10.00 a day for a second dog within the same family. So, 20 days at this rate would put us at $500.
I did find that rural daycares tended to be a couple dollars a day cheaper than the ones in the city. If it's an option, it might be worth driving a little in the long run.
Unfortunately, we already live in a pretty rural area, but we are also in a relatively medium to high cost of living area.
Both dogs, so it comes out to $37.50 per day for them.
$37.50 a day (per dog?) is pretty expensive.
I have found a lot of daycares around the more expensive area to live in here is about $22/day. So if $37.50 is for both dogs, then I'd say that sounds reasonable. Especially up in the NW Pacific region, which I think of as being a little expensive to live in!
We live near Charlotte, NC & our dog daycare passes are 10 full days (can go from 6am-6pm) is $125. So...it does sound expensive to me, but your COL may be higher.
Our dog daycare offers lots of playtime, swimming, nap time, etc.
I wish ours offered swimming!
