So I have a few questions for those of you with Cedar siding on your homes. Honest thoughts please
1. Would you do it again?
2. What is the upkeep?
3. Pros/Cons
4. Is there a look a like alternative that doesn't have the upkeep work?

Re: XP: Cedar Siding
I don't have cedar siding, so I can't answer the first three... but there is look-a-like alternative siding. It's fiber-cement siding and looks like cedar planks. Let me dig around and I'll see if I can find a link.
ETA: Here's one link that I found. The look of the fiber-cement siding is on the right of the window (underneath the guy with the ridiculously white teeth). I know there's more companies that sell it, Renewal is a big one I can think of, but that's just the first link that came up.

There are fiber-cement shakes and vinyl composite shakes. We got the vinyl and love it. There are several makers but the best ratings were always for Cedar Impressions by Certainteed. There are before and afters in my blog from Dec 2010.
