S/o falling out of bed

Forgive me, I don't have kids...

Has anyone ever fallen out of bed?  What about your kiddos?  I've never fallen out of bed and can't fathom doing so, even as a child.

Re: S/o falling out of bed

  • I used to fall out all. the. time. as a kid. I swear it happened several times a week for at least a year. I was a sound sleeper but moved around a lot. I don't think it has ever happened as an adult.
  • Violet fell out of our bed about a year ago in the middle of the night. Almost slept through it (her, not me)
  • DD has never fallen out, and we never did bed rails or anything.

    I don't think I have.

  • I remember falling out of bed one time as an adult.  I was having a bad dream that I was trapped in a giant spider web and trying to get free before I was eaten by a huge black widow.   I was thrashing so much I got tangled in the sheets and flipped off the bed and smacked my forehead on the night stand in the process.   good times!

N has fallen out of bed 3-4 times, always when he's on my bed.  But it's been a good year since it last happened.  I used to put a pillow down his side of the bed to make sure he didn't and one on the floor, just in case.

  • Lexi just ripped the rails off her bed this week and fell out of bed that night. Sigh.  Now we ave a bunch of pillows there to stop her from rolling.  Lucy fell out of bed once or twice after we took her rails off.  I imagine I fell out of bed as a child, but I don't remember it.

  • I fell out of bed at least a couple times as a kid.  Even as an adult, I've caught myself pretty close.  DS has fallen out once since we took his rails off.  The way he moves around when he sleeps, it's a miracle it hasn't happened more.

I think it partly depends on how hard you sleep.  I used to sleep really hard and would talk and walk in my sleep as a kid.  I would not be surprised if DS is the same.  My sister is really bad--she still has dreams and wakes up standing in the middle of the room or doing something weird.

  • I don't remember falling out of bed.

Megan did a few times, but she's always been a moving sleeper.  Ryan never did, even though she's been sleeping in a regular twin bed since she was 21 months.

  • I remember falling off the top bunk of a bunk bed when I was 8 - can't believe I didn't hurt more than just smacking my elbow really hard.

  • I don't remember ever falling out of bed, but I remember my sister did.
  • I remember falling out of bed as a child, but I don't really remember what happened before that.

I fell out of bed once or twice when I was an adult- I was in grad school and super-stressed out about school, and I think it translated to pretty vivid dreams of trying to get away from something (A.K.A. my entire life).

  • I fell out of a top bunk once, but I wasn't sleeping, I was playing and fell, so I don't know if that counts.  Sliced my mouth open really badly, not a fun experience...

  • I fell out of bed when I was 4 and landed directly on my shoulder and snapped my collar bone. The first of many broken bones in my childhood.

D has rolled out of a few times, no injuries for her.

  • I fell off the top bunk bed at bible camp. That's the only time I remember falling.
A big old middle finger to you, stupid Nest.
  • I used to fall out of my bed all the time as a kid, but I was a very active (and deep) sleeper then. I used to wake up on the floor hours later and think "how did I get here" Whenever my grandmother stayed over she shared a bedroom with me and many mornings she told me that she had put me back in bed.

DD1 has fallen out of bed a handful of times mostly when in an unfamiliar bed (hotels, etc) but she hasn't done that since she was about four. DD2 has fallen out of bed a few times too, but she is a edge of the bed sleeper so we have pillows on the floor to break her fall.

  • I fell out of my bunk bed when I was a kid.  I hit a wooden chair before hitting the carpeted basement floor.  I broke my nose and wrist, got a concussion and had bruises all over my face. My Dad felt really bad because he had built the bunk bed and there wasn't a guard rail.
