It's official... we are moving to Maine!
We will be moving to Maine the last week in February. I'm excited, but also very nervous and overwhelmed. DH and I are flying up in a few weeks to look for a house to rent (we don't want to buy until we are more familiar with the area). DH will be working in Auburn (at the Tambrands plant), so we are looking in that area, as well as Durham, Brunswick, and Freeport.
Any suggestions for preschools, pediatricians, Ob/Gyns, dentists, kids activities, etc.. are welcome! I'm sure I will have lots of questions as we get settled.

Congrats and welcome!
You're moving to a great place and you've got a potential ready-made set of friends just waiting for you in the Maine Nesties!
Let me know where you guys land-- I lived in Auburn then moved to Lewiston when we bought our house. I work at CMMC hospital here in Lewiston-- our OB/GYN docs are AWESOME. But if you end up moving further from DH's work, you may want something closer to the home...
Anyhow, WELCOME!!
Welcome! I'm also "from away" (as they say here); I've been here for 10 years. Maine is a great place to raise a family.
My DH is from Pownal (next to Freeport; Freeport/Pownal/Durham are in the same school district) and he turned out ok. Pownal isn't exactly a bustling metropolis, but as they say, "at least I'm not from Durham!"
Welcome to Maine!
We live out of state now, but I grew up in Bath, just outside of Brunswick and LOVE that area. I gave birth to my son this past July at Midcoast Hospital and adored my OB/GYN at the Midcoast practice (Dr. Streeter) as well as the peds there (Dr. Haan). There are a ton of things to do in the area, and having Bowdoin right there brings a lot of great musical/theatre/artistic events, not to mention great foods. If you happen to see a copy of the latest issue of Maine Magazine while you're up scouting, their "24 Hours In..." is on Brunswick this month, and has some great suggestions.
The aim of life is to live, and to live means to be aware; joyously, drunkenly, serenely, divinely aware. -Henry Miller
