Can someone recommend some things to do on the island not water-related and restaurants (casual or fine dining)? We will be staying at the Hyatt if that helps. Thanks!
Re: Aruba Recs
The Hyatt is very nice. Get a club level room and you'll have access to all day soft drinks, bottled water and snacks. Plus, they have breakfast and heavy appetizers in the evening.
The restaurants at the hotel are ok, but not great. Windows on Aruba was delicious. There are lots of other dining choices in walking distance.
Make sure to wake up and get to the beach early. The cabanas and umbrellas go fast.
We were last there in April and it rained a good chunk of each day. Later in the summer the year before was much better.
The highlight of our trip was doing a jeep tour through the island. DH got to drive the jeep for part of the tour. It's an adventure! The desert landscape combined with views of the sea are just amazing! We would love to go back and experience it all again. I think the company we went through was called "Pink Jeep" tours but you can check with your concierge at the hotel for recs.
We did a sunset cruise and jeep tour through the island. We also did a bus tour around the Island which is really small that takes you to baby beach which was cool. And the rest of the time was just spent at the beach and walking around town,
As the pp noted the front desk at the hotel was really helpful with what company to go with.
Adventures of A Girl and Her Apron
Papiamento was my favorite restaurant and I ate there twice on my honeymoon a few years ago. You can sit outside surrounding the inground pool or in one of the different rooms in the historical house.
our best and most romantic meal was Passions at the Amsterdam manor! it was $8 cab ride from the hyatt and at sunset! AMAZING! we got my parents a GC there since they are going in march and they watched our son while we were in aruba!
