Holy Cow

I just made my grocery list for a marathon weekend of making freezer meals - and I am terrified at what my grocery bill is going to be. Hopefully I can get it all done though! I'll be making lasagna, taco pie, taco bread, ham and cheese bread, calzones (2 different kinds), muffin mix, cinnamon rolls, mini meatloaves, and 3 different crock pot meals. Time to plug in the chest freezer!

Here's hoping I can get it all done! I'm thinking that DH is going to need to help me divide and conquer the shopping list. And although I HATE the idea of shopping at Walmart - I do believe it will be the cheapest/easiest for the majority of my items...

  • Impressive! I find if I get at least one part of everything started there is no going back and I will be guaranteed to finish everything. Good luck!
  • Great List! I love spending a day cooking meals to put into the freezer! Make sure you put on the list containers to put everything in!
  • This makes me wish we had a big freezer!

    Have fun :)

  • Thanks ladies! I need to keep busy while friends are painting the nursery Smile And I already have some enchiladas in the freezer. Hopefully these all work out. Everything besides the lasagna and taco pie are new recipes from the interwebz.

Morrigan - adding the containers was definitely something I made sure to do! After grabbing containers I didn't really like for the enchiladas, I will be much pickier this time! A lot of things can do in bags though, which is good

  • I'm impressed! My plan to make freezer meals never worked out bc B came early.

Just a suggestion, since you have a chest freezer, buy some bags of frozen veggies.  I'd go with the steam in bag ones.  You can just pop in the microwave for 5 minutes or so and have a healthy side to all of your main dishes.

Great idea! I've been working more with frozen veggies recently since I'm too pooped normally to want to prep fresh Smile I'll wait until those go on sale. Hopefully publix will have another sale here soon. I was able to get bags of their steam in bag edamame for 99 cents down from $1.79 last month.

  • Wow, good luck with it!  Your list sounds yummy!  I tried freezer cooking like this once, too, but I got scared off about halfway through the grocery shopping because of the cost.  But yours sounds more manageable, so I think you have the right idea.

  • I've been wanting a chest freezer and I'm determined we're going to get one before baby comes for this reason.  Good luck!
