So how bad are the roads? DD and I were supposed to be in Lakewood at 9:45 and I cancelled, but now I'm wondering if we could make it. It seems to have stopped snowing up north. Any reports?

No more baby siggie pics. Boo.

Re: Road report?
Nope, stay put.
Side roads are HORRID. The drivers are even more so. The first snow landed, melted and then froze as the temp dropped so quickly, so there's a nice sheet of ice below all that snow. Cars without AWD can't get up inclines at all, people are sliding through intersections or not moving at all.
I am down south east side of town...side streets were slick and I saw a couple of cars struggle to get up some of the hills, but the traffic was the worst part of it. It took me an hr to get 7 miles!!! I think once the traffic lets up you'd probably be alright if you really had to go somewhere...but if you can reschedule, I'd stay home & stay warm inside
If you do go out...drive carefully & bundle up, the wind makes it feel even more chilly!

University wasn't fabulous, but it was so congested no one could drive too fast and make it a problem.
The most dangerous part of my commute this morning was the invisible layer of ice under the snow in the day care parking lot - I did a move that was right out of a 3 stooges movie trying to avoid falling backwards when both my feet were just suddenly not under me anymore.

I'm dreading just driving N one mile to school then running to Office Depot for printer ink. I'll be taking the light rail to get to my 3 pm mediation downtown.
Awful, awful, awful. I take Colfax to 13th Ave. then on to CO Blvd. to get to the 25, and I slid a good 6 ft. twice even though I drive slow. Thank goodness I leave two car lengths behind the vehicle in front of me on a good day.
I was in terror as I sat at a red light 13th and CO Blvd. as two cars coming behind me were barreling towards the ice patch I just hit. I hate, hate, hate driving with dD in the car on days like today to daycare. Ugh.
Well, I drove in at 7:45 from Parker to I-25 & Dry Creek, and I didn't think it was too bad. Took side roads.....more snow packed than anything else, which my car did well in. It took a while to stop at lights, but I never went over 30 mph and did fine.
We've had worse this year!

It took me twice as long to get from Lakewood to Downtown than it normally does. 6th isn't horrible, but just really Slllloooowww.
Some roads are better than others. Speer is a sheet of ice, but Santa Fe north of 6th was great.

the roads are awful! and people are driving even worse.
like an idiot, I didn't bring my work laptop and stuff home last night because it was only supposed to be something like an inch of snow. the one snow day I don't do this and I am stuck with the worst commute ever (Brighton to 470 & Kipling) at double the normal time. ugh.

I've been out running a few errands, and once I pick DD1 up from preschool, we are staying put the rest of the day. It's very slick under the snow, and the snow on top is so light and powdery that it doesn't give you much traction.
I've had an easier time driving, and less slipping, on days when there was a ton more snow. I figured it would be NBD to be out today because it's not a huge amount of snow, but the roads are definitely slippery

2 hours from SE Aurora to Greenwood Village and back. Worst commute I've had in a long time.
Thanks for nothing CDOT!
