Unsolicited advice for mamas-to-be

If you're like me, you may be procrastinating on furnishing your nurseries and getting baby gear. No biggie. BUT...

If you want to get a carrier like an Ergo, Moby etc. - shop for this before your belly gets too big for you to try it on properly.

Just a little something I wish someone would have told me Smile It all worked out in the end though.

  • Ooh, that's smart. Good thinking!
  • ::butting in::  That's excellent advice that I never would have thought of.

  • Buy a Fisher Price Rock 'N Play sleeper. That thing is a lifesaver and worth it's weight in gold.

  • My big thing was the crib from day 1. I've heard horror stories about weaning a baby out of a rock n' play or a bassinet in mom and dad's room. Our thought was to lose the sleep while I was home on maternity leave, rather than weaning them and losing sleep when I went back to work. Generally it's about the same time they're growing out of the other devices.

  • I just thought of something from rxbeth's post. Keep in mind that any furniture from a store will take a while to come in more than likely. They don't generally keep any of it in stock. DH was picking up our dresser while I was in the hospital. I think it took over 12 weeks to actually come in from Babies R Us.

  • I've heard this too. My plan was crib from day one but if I put him in the crib he would just scream and scream while in the rock 'n play he slept for 5 hours straight. We didn't have any issues transitioning him from the rock 'n play to the crib though. One day he just decided that he no longer wanted to sleep in it at night. He still napped in it but he wanted to be in the crib at night. It has now been retired because, even though he is still within all the limits, he nearly launched himself out of it stretching one day.
