DH lost his ring

He blames the cleaning people, but ultimately it his his fault.

He wasn't wearing his ring.  He left it on the edge of his nightstand.  I saw it and about knocked it off myself on Sunday.  The cleaning people came on Tuesday (after Christmas) and we haven't seen it since...

We've checked all of the drawers in the nightstand, under the bed, in the sheets, in the HVAC vent, everywhere and can't find it.  I asked the cleaning people to check their vacuum bag, but not until that Thursday and they had already dumped the bag.

I fired the cleaning people yesterday (which was long overdue for other things).

I think I'm more upset than he is.  He keeps talking about the cost (which isn't that much relatively speaking) and I think about the sentimental value.

I just can't bring myself to order him a new one at this point because it just won't be the same for me.

  • Aww, that sucks.

DH lost his ring 6 months after we were married. I got him a new (cheaper) one and had it engraved "Don't lose this one!"

It happens, don't beat him up over it. Still, I'm sorry.

I like the engraving :) I think I'd do something on the lines of loose this one the next is a tatoo :-P

DH almost lost his on our honeymoon. It feel off his hand while we were in the ocean. We felt the ocean floor (soft sand) with our toes and was able to find it and recover it. That was his 3rd day wearing it..

  • Dude, that sucks. Sorry.

Not gonna lie, I'd be livid if Jake lost his ring (they were expensive and custom), but after I calmed down I would take Trickey's words and think more rationally. :-)

    Hope it pops up somewhere.

  • One day we were riding in the car and DH was sitting in the back with Jax who was fussing, so he took off his ring and gave it to him to play with (against my protests but Jax was really bad in the car when he was younger so we would often resort to anything to keep him occupied)... the window was rolled down and Jackson threw it out! I was so mad I told him he was not getting a new one.

He went a few months without but one of his clients at work is a jewelry store so they gave him a good deal on a new ring. Still, $ that did not need to be spent.

    Anyways, I feel your pain.

OMG. I would've been livid. Did you try to go back to where he threw it to possibly find it? Obviously it was never located, but I don't know if I would've been able to keep driving without at least going back to look.

  • I'm so sorry! :( DH lost his on the job one day. He took it off to avoid getting it dirty and somehow it came out of is pocket (why it was in a pocket in the first place? *sigh*). We were both super upset and it took us over 6 months to finally decide to get a replacement. Needless to say, his replacement is a "cheapy" one until he gets done with school lol.
