DH has a motorcycle. It's registered in TX (we're TX residents). We currently live in WA.
Last fall, we got a registration renewal notice for DH's motorcycle. We paid it. They accepted payment. They said they shipped the renewal stickers.
Two weeks later, no renewal stickers have arrived. DH calls the registration folks, asking about it, double-checking that they have the correct address on file for mailing it. It all checks out, and they try sending renewal stickers again.
Two weeks later, still no renewal stickers. DH calls again, and they said they shipped them, he doublechecked the address again, and it was all good. DH gets a bit pissed off, but convinces them to send them again. They tell us that the issue is not on their end, and we should talk to our postmaster here if we don't receive them.
The holidays arrive. We get home, more than two weeks after that last call. Still no renewal stickers.
DH hasn't been able to ride in _months_, because while he has paid registration on the motorcycle, he has no proof of it. Every sunny day that is nice enough to ride he gets annoyed by the whole thing all over again.
I'm going to go talk to our postmaster today, if I can. But, really, I highly suspect the answer we will get is "if it shows up here, it goes into your mailbox".
It's incredibly frustrating. We would like to maintain our TX vehicle registrations, but this makes us worry. I've got a business trip down there in a month and a bit, so right now, our current solution is for me to get the stickers in person while I am there. Dumb, but at least it means we'll have them before the weather gets warmer and potential riding days appear much more often...
Oh, and in the interim - DH's truck registration came due. We submitted payment, and had the renewal stickers in hand four.days.later... Here's hoping the same happens for the car next month. Because, while the motorcycle is an optional vehicle, the car and truck are not...
Re: *gripe* motorcycle registration
Man, that sucks. At least, since the truck stickers showed up, they DO actually have the correct address.
Yeah. We really have no idea why the motorcycle registration can't seem to find it's way here - they were able to mail us the reminder that it needed to be renewed...
I'm really hoping the car registration doesn't have the same problems. Although, the business meeting lines up well with when that is expiring, so I could pick those up in person, too, if needed...
I suppose another potential solution would be to give a buddy of ours down there a specific POA to use to go to the office and request the renewal stickers in person for him. Most them work full-time, though, so it would be inconvenient for them.
I've also thought about using some of my airmiles to send DH down there for a long weekend, so he could take care of it himself... Silly, but it might be a solution, if he could get the time off to go. (now that I'm thinking about it, maybe having him come down for the weekend while I'm down there working might be the best solution - he can take care of it while I work, and he can see some buddies he hasn't seen in a while...) I wonder if he could get leave to match up with that trip...
