when you go on vacation, is it normal to have some one watch your house and your pets? check your mail and do normal stuff??
just wondering..
also, if you're not taking your jewelry, do you leave it with some one safe, put it in a safe or safety deposit box?

we're having twins!
Re: vacationing
I ask a friend to come by and feed the cats and fish and to make it look like someone was looking out for the place.
If I lived in a better area and had no pets, I would probably not ask someone to come check on the place unless I was going to be gone for more than 2-3 weeks or so.
TTC #2 for a million years: SA normal, CD 23 bloodwork shows nothing amiss, ovulation detected. Next step: ? maybe CD3 bloodwork to check eggs? All out of pocket, so limited IF tests/treatments.
We get a house sitter because of the dog. She's better off if someone stays at our house with her, but she's gone to stay with our best friends a couple of times too.
We would probably be able to travel more if we didn't need to find a house sitter every time.

Anything over 4 days and we have someone come check on the cat. We usually let our neighbor know that we're going OOT, so he can keep an eye on the place.

jumped ship to the new and improved nest. back to TB for baby boards.
Yes, I have either a close friend or family member watch/take care of things.
I do not leave my jewelery any place specific. I always trust whoever comes over...it never even crossed my mind.
BBI (before break in) - nah, we'd just go and leave the house. My parents would stop by every few days to water the plants and make sure the house was in one piece.
ABI (after break in)- absolutely. We'll have people come stay at our house anytime we're gone now.
our dog is the hardest part. i don't think we travel much since having him either because we always have to find someone to be with him.
i always have some one check my mail and check on our place. this time we're having a friend stay at our house.
i'm excited about it and happy that our babydog will be home with some one who i trust and that loves my dog.
i totally trust my friend with myjewelry.. i was just wondering. i left it with my sil last time but they are just moving so i don't want to bug them with that!
We take our dog to our friend's or more often, dh's parents' house. We have a friend come take care of our cat and check on our house if we're gone for a more than a weekend. If it's just a weekend dog still goes to ILs and we let the neighbors know we'll be away and ask them to keep an eye out (but don't leave them with a key).
I don't do anything special with jewelry i normally wear; i just don't keep it anywhere obvious.
Best sound ever: baby's heartbeat! (Heard @ 10w1d)
we board our dog while were OOT and let the neighbors we know and trust know so they can keep an eye out (a few stay at home moms/wfh moms).
honestly the only jewelry I have that is worth anything is my wedding set and a pair of diamond studs, so I just leave it in my jewelry box.
