Any quilters on?

image

I want to make something very similar to this but don't "get it".

I've only done squares (sewing squares together), not sure of the technical term.

Is the superhero fabric just sewn to a white background and then quilterd or di the person make squares

Re: Any quilters on?

  • At first glance I thought it was a disappearing 9 patch, but not so sure about that. Maybe it starts the same way, but when you make the cuts on the 9-patch, they're off center?  Then you'd have to cut each quarter of the 9-patch to the same block size??

  • It looks like they cut various squares together.  If you look at the blue superman fabric near the bottom you can see that the pattern doesn't line up under the white notch.  I'm sure it's a pattern of some sort.

  •  I added some red squares to sort of highlight the piecing. It looks like they pieces different size/shape blocks, arranged the top how they liked and then stitched it together.

  • It looks like rows of various squares/ rectangles sewn together. Mommymonster has the main rows picked out I think. The big superman in the middle spans over 2 rows though. Now I don't know if it is random or not though, would have to see more of the quilt! But I think you could sew rows of various squares and sew them together. Each row is made up of the same side block though so they line up with the rows either side.

Im too sleepy to make a lot of sense though at the moment!

  • Yeah, that's a weird one.  I have a similar pattern all blocked out if you want a layout- it is modeled after this pin:
