Selling Jewelry: white gold?

HI Ladies-

I've been meaning to sell my wedding set for a while now, and I also have a few other pieces of jewelry I'd like to get rid of as well. I have a necklace that is white gold with sapphire/diamond and my wedding set is also the same. I also have a small gold chain that I'd just like to sell for any price. Do gold buyers also buy white gold? I'm sure it's not he same cost, but I don't want to get like $100 for everything, KWIM? I haven't had experience with this.

Thanks!

  • I sold mine to Jared's Gold Exchange. I had a white gold 1/4 ct band and a 1 tcw diamond pendant that i got $105 for . My E ring I was able to sell on craiglist for $400 but the same buyer scammed me on my band so I was forced to sell it to a gold exchange.

  • I haven't sold mine yet, but I'm looking to.  From what I can tell, white gold is still selling, just not at nearly as high of a price as yellow gold.  GL!

  • gold is gold is gold

14kt white gold has the same gold content as 14kt yellow gold, it's just the alloys used to create white gold are different then those used to strengthen yellow gold.  If someone tries to pay you less for white vs yellow take your gold somewhere else.

Also gold buyers will buy anything but they won't get you any money towards the stones so if you have nice diamonds and sapphires selling on craigslist or ebay is a way to get more money (not what you paid by any stretch of the imagination but a better price)

The way to get the best price for your jewelry is to find a smaller jewelry store that does consignment and see what they offer you, you often don't get paid until the item sells but if you don't need the money right away you'll definitely get more.
