making kids socks sticky on the bottom?

LO's won't wear shoes inside but insists on socks.  The ones with the sticky patterns/letters on the bottom lose their stickiness after awhile, and he starts slipping and falling.  Is there a way to add stickiness to the bottoms of socks?  I was thinking something like puff paint?  Anyone else have this problem?

Re: making kids socks sticky on the bottom?

  • Puff paint will work.  I have also heard of putting hot glue on it, but I am guessing it will eventually peel off.
  • Do you think he would wear those socks with a rubber bottom (called Skidders at Target)?  Those wouldn't lose stickness, I wouldn't think - and have less structure than a shoe, so he might be more inclined to wear it?
  • I've used the puff paint and it works well.

  • puff paint works, but it compresses. I used it on some felted wool slippers I made.

I bought some at target  when Tracey was just starting to cruise around, but I'm pretty sure they don't sell them anymore. I just found a pack in my glove compartment (?) and plan to put them on some of her socks now because she is always slipping around. I don't understand why they put the nonslip in the arches of socks. They should really be on the balls of the feet!

NOTE: I used the stick one ones and they washed and washed with no problems.
