Re: Clicky Poll: S/O Ear Piercing

  • I voted SS.

I got my ears pierced when I was in 3rd grade, because my bff had her ears pierced.  I think I went to a place like Claire's in the mall.  I have big fatty ear lobes, and one day my tiny earrings got caught INSIDE my earlobes when I was taking them out, and I had to go to the ER to get shots in my ears and have the earrings removed.

After that my mom told me I had to wait until I was 16 to get earrings again.  At 16, I didn't feel the need to have earrings, and I still don't, so my ears are "born again" earring-less ears.

  • SS: my grandma got my ears pierced when I was a baby and at some point before I was 4 I did something and on side ripped. We let those holes heal and I was allowed to get them re-pierced when I was old enough to ask/take care of them, I think I was 7.

My sister used to work for Claire's. She recommend we go to a tattoo shop because they don't use those guns and they are actually trained professionals for piercing. Another 17 year old taught my sister how to do it. Scary!

  • I chose SS.

I first got my ears pierced but got tired of taking them out to play volleyball. Tried again when I was 18 but let them close. And I just got them pierced a year ago, finally sticking!

I was a scaredy cat as a kid. The littlest things scared me. I was terrified of them with that thing at my head. My mom gave me no say in whether I wanted them just told me that it was happening and it was kinda like shots.

I actually couldn't keep earrings in them. They somewhat closed because of it. Then at about 6 or 7 my stepsister tried putting earrings back into them and ended up reopening them due to her forcing the earring through the back. Yeah I was not a happy camper then either. But they are still open and I wear studs in them daily.

  • I was about 15 months when I got my ears pierced.  I don't remember it, and it's never bothered me either...actually I'm kind of happy that it happened when I was too young to remember it hurting haha.  Plus, since I was so young, my ears will like never close.  I went through a serious tom boy phase where I refused skirts/brushing my hair/jewelry etc. and a long stint as a nanny where I never wore jewelry, and they're still there, which I like.
  • my sister and I got them pierced at the same time when we were young at Claire's, I think I was in first grade.  Never had any problems or anything!
  • I got mine pierced for my sixth birthday. I never had infections or other issues, but I really didn't wear earrings between the ages of 11 or so and 19. At 19 or 20, I tried to put in a pair of earrings and discovered the right hole had closed. Oops.

I'm 28 now and still haven't had them re-pierced. Not much of a jewelry person.

  • I have had mine pierced three times. I got them pierced in 4th grade.  They got really infected so I let them close.  Then I tried again a year later.  One got all infected again and had to be repierced.  Somewhere in high school I have up on earrings. I would love to be able to wear them but no go.

One of my students gave me earrings for Christmas.  That was an awkward thank you note!  Thank you for the earrings (that I will never wear).  I gave them to my mom.
