Feet growing (pg)?

When do you give up and admit your feet have grown while pg?

My feet aren't swollen, but my shoes have been tight for the past 3 months.  I'm leaning towards finding something more comfortable, but I'm not sure if I should wait just in case they go back?  Anyone have bigger feet post-pg?

Re: Feet growing (pg)?

  • Mine didn't grow, but I think I remember ToddsWife posting about this recently, and others chimed in that it happened to them too...
  • Hey!! I can't believe you are getting so close!!!

Did you decide to keep L where he is or move him?

We are struggling to decide about next year, but I am leaning toward staying and just working on reading on our own.

Anyway. About feet.  I think Toddslovelywife just posted about giving up bc her feet grew.  For me, with DS, toward the end my feet grew huge.  I could only wear one particular pair of danskos to the hospital, no other shoes, and by the time I left after my c/s (i.e., tons of pushed fluids), I had to wear only socks to the car, and bc I had to go to a store on the way home, DH stayed in the car and I had to wear his size 11.5s into the store.  They were like clown shoes.  But they mostly went back.  That is, I was always a 6.5/7, and now I'm just cleanly a 7. If I believed what my feet were telling me that last month, I've have thought I was an 8 or 9.  So I think you have to wait and see what happens from water weight after a few weeks after birth when you lose the water weight in your body, before you decide your feet permanently grew.

  • I guess I was different because although my feet did swell/grow during pg, they went back to normal quickly thereafter.  I deliberately wore some of my favorite shoes while pg to stretch them out so I wouldnt have to give them up after.  Now, most of those shoes are too big or need heel inserts!

Youre so close to the end, I would wait if you can bear it at all.  Its possible that you wont need new shoes soon and whatever you bought will be too big.

  • Yep, mine grew a full size - but I didn't notice it until winter when I started wearing all closed-toe shoes and many didn't fit.

Now I have a stupid ingrown toenail (ow and also "gross Keri," TMI!) and I just cleared out a bunch of my shoes (some soon to be seen on the feet of other Nesties, which makes me happy at least.)

I think I would hold off on buying more than one new pair - maybe just get something comfy and basic that would work in most situations... you are done with work now, right?  So I would just get something you can run around in doing errands and running DS around, just so you don't end up with a jacked up toe nail or super sore feet.

Then give it at least a month after you have the new edition to see if it is swelling or growth or a combo.

  • Mine grew with.each.kid.  I used to be a 7 1/2... now I'm struggling to fit into some of the 9s I wore before LG, since I'm closer to a 9 1/2 now.

    I'm just glad I didn't start out as a size 10 pre-kids.  Tongue Tied

  • Eek.  I think I can stick it out.  I only have 1.5 more weeks of work.  I'll make it that long, and at home, I can wear my slippers or crocs and no one will see and know the difference.  ;)

  • Mine grew a half size but 2 weeks after i gave birth it went back to its original size.

  • By 10 weeks pregnant mine grew 1.5 sizes, but went back to normal about a month after giving birth.  If you can hold out, try, if not, go to Target and get a cheap pair.

  • Mine grew a little bit with D, like less than half a size but enough that I got rid of two pairs of shoes.
  • I was a size 8 pre-pregnancy and wear an 8.5-9 now.  I bought a couple pairs of cheap (Target, Ross, TJ's) flats for work and waited till 6ish months post partum before I decided that my feet really did grow and got a couple more pairs.  I donated some amazing shoes and am sad about it but my feet are now the same size as my little sisters so I'm getting all her shoes that she no longer wears which is fabulous!  : )

FTR, I'm wearing 9-9.5 now so I'm wondering if this pregnancy will put me up to a 9 after all is said and done.  My mother's feet grew .5 size with each of her 3 pregnancies.  MIL's feet didn't grow.  I imagine everyone is different.

  • Mine grew a full size with my first pg, and apparently that was maximum stretchage because they didn't change with 2nd pg. I tried so hard to will them back to a pre-preg size because they were already huge (size 10, thanks Jes!) and I didn't want to have to start all over with all my shoes.  Especially my hockey skates. I spent a small fortune on my favorite skates ever and now I have my ugly, huge feet in a make shift pair of skates from Play it Again :(  And now that they're size 11, I can't find any cute shoes anywhere :(
