Scariest movie you've ever seen?

I've never been able to watch scary movies, so I don't know why I'm asking.  I kind of want to watch one, though...not sure where this is coming from.  I think a girls night with lots of alcohol, gossip and a scary movie slumber party sounds fun. (Or maybe I'm wanting to be in the 9th grade again, I don't know).

Re: Scariest movie you've ever seen?

  • I don't watch scary movies.  The last scary movie I saw was the Blair Witch Project.  After watching that then having to do land navigation exercises in the dark at Ft. Sill, I was pretty much turned off from scary movies.  I have a good enough imagination without adding in psycho killer plots.
  • The Strangers, no doubt about it. By the end of that movie I literally felt sick to my stomach.

  • I haven't watched a scary movie in a long time. But the scariest I've seen is a toss up between The Grudge or The Ring. When DH and I were dating he thought it would be a great idea to go see The Grudge in theaters. I couldn't even watch most of the movie.

  • The Exorcist. Whatever you do, do NOT watch this movie, especially if you have stairs in your house. If you don't understand why, count your blessings.

  • Silence of the Lambs. And I think your idea sounds really fun!!
  • Agree about The Exorcist.

Personally though... I'd rather watch a scary movie than a slasher movie. As far as I'm concerned, Rob Zombie is the worst filmmaker in the history of American cinema. And I still kinda hate those people in college who made me sit through House of 1000 Corpses. Worst movie ever.

  • It had to be The Ring...and I love slumber parties!
  • Gotta agree with bluekid and drillerswife - Silence of the Lambs and The Strangers were both super scary. The Strangers was probably slightly scarier for me.
