early confession

I went to the mall today and bought a pair of real jeans that I actually fit into right now even though I still have 20-25 pounds of baby weight to lose.  My maternity jeans are too loose and my regular jeans don't fit yet, so I just *needed* something to wear in the meantime besides yoga pants.

Re: early confession

  • That's totally ok! You need to do what you need to do and not give yourself a hard time about that weight. You just had a baby and you need to be comfortable!

oh I'm totally ok with still having the weight to lose, I was (perhaps naively) thinking I wouldn't buy new pants until I was sure my weight loss had plateaued (like I was imagining not buying new pants until at least spring) because I didn't want to spend money on things I wouldn't be able to wear later.  But I also wasn't expecting my maternity pants to not fit anymore - I didn't anticipate how much weight I'd gain (and then lose) in my hips/butt/thighs!

  • I have my pre-baby/ post meeting DH weight to lose... I am refusing to buy pants until I go down at least a size... but I have clothes that fit right now.

Um, yes, you cannot live your life in yoga pants (says the girl who spent the last two days in them). hah. Seriously, don't feel bad about it. I highly recommend Old Navy for inexpensive jeans for those in between times. I was thinking I'd like more jean that fit my body now, but honestly, I want to work on losing more and I have three pairs that fit well and like four more that would fit if I lost about 10lbs maybe. I'm now like 12lbs (I think?) below PP weight...but still have a ways to go to be at a healthy/happy weight.

  • You were with me when I had to buy mine, right after my pp checkup, haha! Those jeans now sit in the rubbermaid with my maternity jeans. Don't feel bad; you need clothes that fit!

  • I think this is 100% ok! Chris wore my jeans (1-2 sizes bigger than hers) for a few weeks before hers fit. She's back at PP weight, but everything has moved (her legs are like toothpicks now and her belly is still quite fluffy) so even though her jeans fit she's planning on getting some new more flattering ones soon to hold her over until she gets back in better shape.

  • You totally need clothes that fit. I agree about Old Navy for cheap jeans until you fit into your pp ones. I have finally caved and gotten a bunch of work tops too. My boobs are just huge still and I can't fit in my pp shirts. I know that I will get smaller once I stop bfing but I don't know if I will ever be the same size and then I figure it won't be than long until we are trying for number 2.
