Period question

So, I've had my period twice since Zoe was born. The first time it started the Tuesday before Thanksgiving and was pretty awful, but it lasted the usual 5 days. I got my next period 6 weeks and 2 days later. This one was awful like the last one (it was bad the first 3 days) and then it seemed like it was going away. Well its been a week and I am still having a light period. WTF? In the 21 years since I've had AF, this has never happened. My cycles have always been 5 days long. Never shorter, never longer. I figured I'd give it another week and then call the doctor. This is annoying.

ETA: I guess my question is, has this ever happened to anyone else, especially after having a baby?

Re: Period question

  • If you are still BFing, be prepared for a period rollercoaster until you stop.

  • Aw man, I figured it could be something related to that. I guess I just expected my periods to be shorter and lighter since I'm bfing but I guess that isn't realistic.

  • Unfortunately, everyone is different.  Plus, if you've gone so long w/o a regular period, you can expect them to be pretty heavy when you do have them.  When you quit BFing, it will balance back out.
