I want to get a group of friends together to go to NH for cross country skiing. BUT, I only want to invite people that will actually get on the trails with me and not stay back at my parents place. Everyone (but one couple) has been there before and I have NO issue leaving my friends at the chalet alone. I just want a large group to go skiing b/c I think it will be funnier having 8 people try to XC ski.
This one friend is kind of sensitive and ALWAYS gives ideas and "instead of this way, how about this way." So usually when I plan things that involve her, I need them to be pretty set in stone as to "this is what we are doing, do you want to join us?" Obviously if we are all planning a trip together, then I don't pre-plan it.
This is what I have so far.
Hey Friend!
I am planning a group trip to NH, but only after it snows.(You, me, Jay, YH, Friend 1,2,3,4). I want to get a group together that is willing to go cross country skiing with me. Do you think you and YH would be willing to get on some skies? It is kiiiinda like hiking through the woods with LONG snow shoes on. I know YH has a bad knee and can't down hill ski.
This is the part that I am struggling with. I want to say, "Based on the reason for the trip, I am hoping to only get people that want to try to make an ass out themselves with me. Are you guys in?"
Re: How do I word this without sounding like a dic(k)tator?
"I would like to include our adventurous friends who are willing to attempt a group ski outing and will ensure the path is not to strenuous for YH with the bad knee. I hope you are up for the adventure, having you be a part of the fun would really be great!"
IDK, something like that?
Could you just start out by saying you are inviting people on a cross country ski trip?
Like, "I am planning a group cross country ski trip..." instead of just say you are planning a trip to NH?
that way its not vague from the beginning.
I changed my name
Nail on the head.
Thanks everyone. We've been BFF's forever, drifted apart, drifted together, but she is quite sensitive.
I agree with Apples. Make it sound like it is a trip to cross country ski, not so much "a trip to NH"
