Napa Valley and Yosemite

Hi Ladies!

I'm just now really starting my research for our San Francisco/ Napa/ and Yosemite trip.  So far I have my hotel booked in San Francisco and some ideas on things to do around there.  From there, we were planning on heading to Napa for a few days and then down to Yosemite for a few days.  Any suggestions/ recs for hotels, wineries, must dos, blog posts?  We won't be camping in the park, but hopefully someplace pretty close.

Thanks so much!

  • I asked about napa a few weeks ago and got some great recs.  Here's the thread if you want to check it out:

  • My napa trip is one of the only trips I actually updated in my blog, at the bottom of my siggy.

  • For Yosemite, you REALLY need to stay in the park. Staying outside the park is going to be a huge time suck. The lines to get in can be long and parking is hard to come by.

We stayed at Yosemite Lodge. It was fine. Nothing fancy but it was super convenient, clean, and it was not camping. I don't camp.

  • I would recommend staying in Yosemite as well because it can be quite a haul to get into the park.  We stayed at the Lodge, but I preferred Curry Camp.  We got a cabin with a bath at Curry and I preferred it over the lodge.  I would not have wanted to stay in the rustic tent cabins as it would have been too loud and I didn't want to deal with not having a restroom in our cabin.

  • What's your budget for hotel rooms and expenditures (food, activities, etc.) in Napa, and what time of the year are you going?  I live in SF and go up to Napa / Sonoma all the time so I can provide plenty of recs there, but I find that Napa tends to cost a lot more $$$ than some people might expect, especially depending on the time of year you go.
