Does this exist?

I'm making a sign that will be kept outside and I'm trying to figure out how to best maintain the writing, which is just done with black sharpie.  I assume sharpie will bleed if it snows or rains, right?

Is there something like a spray-on lamination?  Any ideas on how to protect the sign?  It's on plasticy material, so I'm a little stuck.

Thanks for any help!

  • You should be able to apply a couple coats of mod podge to seal it.

I was thinking that, but is there a mod podge spray?  I only have the big tub with a brush.  The sign is kinda big to do that on both sides.

  • You can try clear spray paint but idk that it would work.

  • An outdoor clear spraypaint (Rustoleum makes one) should work.

  • If you use spray paint you have to get one that is specially formulated for plastic or it won't stick, it just beads up and gets kind of gummy.  The can should say "for plastic" on the front.

  • Mog Podge does have spray.  They have a matte and glossy style.  It's in the craft section.  Pretty sure I've bought it at walmart

Yep! I use it as a sealant for the coasters I make. That, or clear spray paint.
