recommend august vacation

pls recommend ideas for august vacation.
plan to travel either 3rd or 4th week of august.
budget is $2000 for hotel for 4 persons, 2 adults 2 kids (3 and 5).
airfare is not included but am willing to travel from mia/ft laud.
priority is that we want the kids to have fun, so nice pools, waterslides, shows would be good. beach also but not necesaary. all inclusive would also be nice with some diverse restaurants eg asian, mexican etc. we are considering mexico but dont know where. also looked at the beaches resorts but these look pricey.
we were also thinking caribbean cruise but not sure because isnt hurricane season in august?
any suggestions welcome!

The Atlantic Hurricane season starts in June and lasts through November. The height of the season is early September. So I would be concerned about the potential of a hurricane impacting your vacation.
I travel to the Caribbean frequently during August and I've never had any problems. I always buy good travel insurance just in case. Plus cruise ships have the luxury of changing their route in order to avoid hurricanes if needed.
The Dreams resorts are very family-oriented and they often run specials that allow children to stay for free. A cruise will definitely give you a lot of bang for your buck, plus you can save on airfare since you are in the MIA area.
