I went on the ICEdot website last night to do their free sign up. I really like the concept. For anyone who hasn't seen the commercials it's a service where you print up your emergency contacts, current medications and allergies and put it in your glove box. Then they send you an ICE sticker for your car so if you're ever in an accident the EMT will see the sticker and know to retrieve the info. At the risk of sounding neurotic, after I filled it all out I realized I was pretty much putting a sticker on my window letting people know private info was in my glove box. Am I over thinking this?
Re: ICEdot
Well you aren't putting your SSN on it, right? As long as it's just phone numbers for contacts and medications you are on, I don't see the big deal.
No you don't put your SSN on it but I guess after I entered the info I was thinking you could tell a lot about my health from the info I entered. I don't know if this info is protected like HIPAA on their website and database. I guess I just don't know if I'd like a list of my contacts, their relation, phone numbers, and meds I am on getting into the wrong hands.
Maybe because I'm not on any meds, but I still don't get the big deal about listing them. Unless a pill popper/dealer breaks into your car and wants to hit you up to see if you want to sell some of your new Rx. But really, I just don't see the issue.
Someone could get that basic info from me if I lost my day planner..
