Products for itchiness

I'm still having a lot of trouble. My scalp is the worst, but I don't think there's much I can do for that. The hives keep coming and going on my legs and popping up elsewhere like my ears and hands. Do the products with oatmeal work? Anything else. I can't use anything with Benadryl in it since I'm already taking a bunch. I'm also on Prednisone for a couple more days. If it's not better at the end of the Prednisone I'll call back. They don't know what's causing this though so I don't know how much more they can do for me. It's the worst at night and first thing in the morning. Thanks ladies.

Re: Products for itchiness

  • I didn't have hives, but I've had terrible itchiness from dry skin before, and used some Aveno oatmeal bath product that helped some. (It's a packet I poured in the bath.)

  • I have eczema on my hands that seems to get worse anytime I shower or wash my hands. I have a prescription that helps to calm the inflammation but it doesn't help with the itch at all. I just recently tried some Caladryl (just the target brand) and its helped immensely! It just takes the itch away within minutes. I think its $3.50ish so it might be worth a try!
  • Oh man, I am the queen of itchiness.  Eczema for most of my life : (  Oatmeal is good for sure.  Aveeno makes a nice oatmeal bath packet or you can just dump a cup of instant/quick oats into your warm bath.  Don't take hot baths or showers, the heat strips your skin of its oils and natural protectors.  Try a hydrocortizone cream if you need it.  Coconut oil can sooth itchiness and is natural, of course.  You can also use Chamomile tea bags (steeped and cooled) on your skin to soothe it.  Reduce your intake of salt and sugar, both cause inflammation and can irritate your skin.

If you want more ideas, PM me.

  • You can get some blue chamomile essential oil at whole foods and mix it with a little jojojbaoil. It's a natural anti-inflammatory and will also be very moisturizing.

Adtually, any kind of chamomile will work, but the blue kind is the most calming.
