DH and I are considering a trip to Sandals Bahamas this July. We were there for our honeymoon, but that was in April. Just curious what the weather would be like in July, I'm fearful of "rainy season". Thoughts?
Re: Bahamas in July
you can obviously google the rainfall averages. The summer is the rainy season. I've been to that Sandals in July and we had great weather - it rained for about 20 minutes one day.
When it's that humid, storms typically pop up and blow through pretty quickly.
Hurricanes rarely make an appearance that early, but insurance wouldn't hurt.
Jul 10 is the Bahamian independence day. At least where I grew up (in the Abacos), it was basically a week of celebrating from Jul 4 on. Lots of fun, drinking, and boating, but I have no idea if it affects Sandals at all.
I don't remember July being a rainy season. In fact I remember it being when our cisterns sometimes ran too low. There are tons of microclimates, though, so who knows. I do know that we always expected afternoon thunderstorms and almost always saw them building, but they didn't always hit us. Regardless, you get brief heavy storms, and then the sun is out again. It's not like a gray overcast rain everyday season.
