What Would May '08 Do?
So...for Christmas I got tickets to a concert on a Sunday. In anticipation I already asked for the next day after (Monday) off from work. Well today I found out that the concert has been moved from February to August. My question is....
Do I still take the day off, even though I have no reason to?
OR Do I cancel it and horde my days off for another more important time?
If I do take it, I will still have like 14 vacation days. What would you do?

this. it all depends on if you think you will need the days down the road. but you definitely have every right to take it "just cuz". just make sure you can still get the day off for the concert in february, too.
Oh I'd definitely take the day off and have a me day. You have 14 days now (do you accrue or you just get 14 for the year?) I guess that's a better question to ask.
And do you get sick leave on top of vacation days?
Since you don't have anything planned and if you get sick days as well then yah just do a me day and then take the next day off in August.
It's there for you to use them from all the work you put in!
hmmm. i would probably tell them i don't need it, go in, and then spend the whole day in a crap mood thinking....."why did i go to work today??" LOL - therefore, if you're anything like that....just take the day and enjoy it! You're probably already in the mindset that you have a long weekend, so if you don't need to save the day for anything down the road, why not take a day just cuz!
