family vacation spots

Hi girls!

I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions on a vacation spot this summer for my husband, myself and our almost 2 year old daughter.  I am thinking a long weekend somewhere in june or july.  Not sure what we would all enjoy with a 2 year old. If any one has any suggestions let me know.

Re: family vacation spots

  • We really like NE Iowa (McGregor, Marquette, Decorah, etc...) Lots to do in the area and the scenery is awesome. Plus, you're not far from Wisconsin so you can hop over the border and do some exploring there. We usually rent a cabin or camp, but there are lots of hotel options too.

  • I think Omaha is a good option.  They have a zoo, children's museum, shopping, etc.

  • I second Omaha! If you pick Omaha you may want to avoid the weeks/weekends of the College World Series unless of course you like baseball and want to embrace the craziness that takes over the city and enjoy some baseball!

  • My son loves to go anywhere where he can be outside and play. He is pretty flexible! :o) What about Wisconsin Dells? They have so many cool water parks and hotels.

I'm sure you have figured this out already, but anytime we book a vacation where we actually want to enjoy ourselves also we try and find accommodations where there are two separate rooms in the hotel (like a residence inn). They are usually pretty reasonable and make a world of difference!!

We do this too. Having two rooms allows her to run around a little more and not feel so crmped

  • Haven't read all the messages, don't know if you enjoy camping. But we do and have found most of the state parks to be really great. We stayed up at Okoboji and had a splendid time. There are some really awesome water parks too, that would be a lot of fun!
