80s inspiration?

Hey ladies! Im doing a post and fly since I have to run out the door. But I am throwing a surprise 30th for DH in March, its not going to be a huge party- just a small group of friends but I wanted it to be different than our normal gtgs so I decided to take it back 30 years and do an 80s theme. Any ideas/ inspirations? What was your favorite thing from the 80s?

Thanks in advance!!

Re: 80s inspiration?

  • I went to an 80's party a few years ago. They had somehow downloaded a ton of 80's music videos from the 80's and were playing them on the TV. The birthday cake was also a giant rubix cube.

I think having fun music will go a long way. :)

  • I love the 80's and actually considered having an 80's party for my 30th too. It was going to be 80's costumes. Some of the ideas I tossed around were the MTV logo, a stereo or Rubic's cube on the invite or on the cake. You can have each table named after an 80's band or movie. Some ideas are A Flock of Seagulls, Men at Work, Bananarama, Whitesnake. The sillier the better. I would go with bright colored decorations. I had so many ideas but I can't remember them all.

  • Whenever I think 80's, I start singing "Safety Dance" or "Obsession" in my head. Non music though think "Brat Pack!" The Breakfast Club, St Elmo's Fire, Pretty in Pink. Why do I feel like I'm aging myself here? I loved the 80's. (I did graduate in 91 after all)

  • Thanks ladies! Definitely going with the 80s music. Luckily DH & our friends are a big fan of the goofy 80s music already so he has a bunch downloaded :o). I like the rubix cube thing too.
