Okay so my idea for save the dates is to make bookmarks. I have already crafted up an example and have some good friends helping me with the layouts. One side will be a strip of photos from our e-pics and the other side will have the save the date information on them. My questions for you guys are as follows:
1) What do you think about using bookmarks? "Bookmark the date!" Is this cheesy? Will people use them or mostly toss them? I guess I don't care either way.
2) What would you do for sending them? One bookmark per couple or send the number of bookmarks per invited guests in the household/couple? Like would I put two bookmarks in the mail to my parents or just one?
I was thinking that if people actually USED them than it would be nice for each person to have one for themself, but the reality may be it's just a jazzed up notification.
Re: Wedding talk and opinions needed
I think it's a cute idea, and I would definitely use it. I cycle through bookmarks regualrly because they get used to much. Generally, it's that free one they give out at the front desk of the library.
I think I'd only send one though. There's a good chance that most of them are going to end up magnetted on to someone's fridge until the date. Plus, it saves money. As long as one person in the family knows when everyone needs to get in the car, you're good. (I might be cheap.)
I think that's an AWESOME idea. As for how many per household... I guess a part of that is based on budget. But honestly, I'd probably opt for 1 per household. Some people aren't readers at all, some people now use an e-reader, and I'm sure those that are readers have their own stash of bookmarks.
I think if you send 2, there is a bigger chance more would get thrown away.

I think that its a cute idea, but I probably wouldn't use a save-the-date bookmark that was sent to me. I would be too afraid of losing it. They always go right on the fridge. After the wedding, I might use it.
As for how many to send, for me it would depend on who its being sent to. I probably would use it if it were my sister and her husband, but probably not if it were my cousin and her husband. Just seems a little weird to be carrying around pics of a cousin I only see every few years.
Just my opinion, but I do think its a cute idea.
I adore this idea because I always use a bookmark and I love getting new ones.
I would especially love a bookmark with my loved ones on it.
Love this idea, a LOT! Really creative.
I will 3rd 4th and 5th that you only send one bookmark for each household.
I am so relieved this idea is going over well (so far). I was a bit nervous about it. I will plan on sending one per couple/household unless I know for sure people would use them.
I love this idea DL! I agree with the general consensus - one per household. I assume we're going to get a preview of this masterpiece, yes???
I like the idea! But I'd put it on the fridge with a magnet.
Yes, yes! I only have very rough draft format right now, but as soon as I get all the right pieces together I'll post some pics.
Thanks for your help everyone!
Umm who cares what it looks like....most people open their mail and think "what is this now oh another dumb party to attend" Whether it is a bookmark or regular invite, the majority of people are not going to keep it. Sorry to burst your girlie bubble.
One per couple and anyone over 18 get their own.
