Since I know you all are the experts I will pose the question here.
Kira's teacher's sister passed away. I'm taking up a collection to send flowers/make donation/whatever the wishes of the family are. Anyways do I sign the card from the class or do i only include the names of those who contributed?
Honestly I want to recognize only those who sent something in because I am so sick of people getting credit/rewards for not participating. The nice person in me trying to come out knows that the right thing to do is probably sign it from the whole class.
WWYD?
PS- Everyone in Kira's class has the means to contribute a dollar, they are paying tuition to send their kid to school. Yes I know there are scholarships out there but I'm thinking that the majority in her class are not on scholarship.
Re: Need etiquette advice....
I would sign it from the whole class.
I also would not judge someone's finances because their child goes to a school that costs tuition. I knew a lot of people who really struggled financially to put their kids through Catholic school (sure, a dollar is a dollar, but as a general idea...)
I know Becky- I'm just irritated. I see these parents walking around in UGGS, driving LandRovers, fancy purses yet they cannot take the time or effort to send in a $1 donation for a collection for a death or they cannot even send in a bag of chips for a class party, etc.
There is one family that I know she is a single parent, husband passed away, she struggles financially and she donated $10, I thought that was so sweet of her, I wanted to give her the money back because I know they don't have it. :
Someone's getting a little brother!
I agree with Mella and I think it might make the teacher upset if she saw only a few contributed.
I'm with Mella on this. I completely understand the frustration when some people never contribute to things and yet they still get credit. But in this situation it seems like it's better to just sign it from the whole class.

This is exactly what I would have said.
flowers are sent. we ended up with 12/28 sending in money. i signed the card from the whole class. i love the arrangement, its so pretty, hope it looks as good when they deliver it. i had no idea how pricey funeral arrangements are.
