Beginner scrapbooking questions?

Ok! I've been just dabbling into scrapbooking for the last couple months and loved it.  At hobby lobby I noticed these embossing machines and so, for my birthday, my husband I got a "Sizzix BigKick" machine.  It apparently does embossing, textures, and maybe some other stuff?  I think I kinda know what embossing is ... is that where it cuts the shapes?

My main question is what the heck can I do?!  I'm ready to get creative!!!

Re: Beginner scrapbooking questions?

  • The dies are what cut the shapes.  Embossing is creating a raised texture on your paper.  Two diiferent things and requires different accessories.  You can do both with that.

  • As for ideas, do you have any favorite pictures? You could try creating a scrapbook collage and framing the finished product in a 12x12 (or whatever size) frame.

  • You can do anything! Cards, scrapbooking, home decor projects, the possibilities go on forever.

My suggestion would be to google what you're looking for + your machine name, so that you'll get step by step instructions on how to create what you want. Once you get more familiar with what your machine does, you can branch out a bit and make your own stuff.

For example, if I'm looking for valentine's day scrapbook layouts for my cricut, I'll type valentine's day scrapbook + cricut. It brings up lots of tutorials.

    Good luck and have fun!
