House hunting-WTF

I'm bored today...so I'm PW this business up!

I'm looking at houses for our potential move-I came across this one as a description.

3 bedroom, 2 bathroom house with pool. The home was acquired in a foreclosure so we have no knowledge of the condition of the mechanical system(s) andor home. This home is price to sell. All appliance have been removed along with light fixture(s), carpet, and hot water tank.

I completely understand being upset about losing your home...but why would you really want to do this? Seems like a lot of work to me...

  • Some people will do just about anything if they are strapped for cash.

  • That's crazy! But I agree with Tara, if money is an issue they may have figured they could get some this way.

  • We looked at a few forclosures too. You WOULD NOT BELIEVE the condition of some of them. Apparently when some people forclose, they actually try to destory their homes. We looked at a few that easily had 10-20 thousand in repairs. The people had gone through the house and destroyed it on purpose. Everything done was obviously done as they were leaving. Sick...

This exactly. You can sell almost anything on Craigslist

  • I would think it's probably a little of both.  Getting money for selling the stuff, and a big "F you" for taking my house.

I thought it was interesting because we sold the condo I lived in while I was in University to a family from Germany and they were just shocked that the appliances, etc came with the place.  They said you don't even get cupboards and stuff when you buy a place there, just the bare walls.

  • I looked at a house like that when I was moving. It was an awesome house but they'd totally gutted it. They even removed the counters.

Eta: we ultimately bought a different foreclosure and had to spend a ton fixing it up since they'd let their digs tear the place all to heck.
