First, thank you ALL. Again. The love that was pouring out of my mailbox today was so much more then I even, in a million years, expected. I can't say thank you enough, to each and every one of you, for the thoughts, prayers, cards, gifts and general good juju. You rock, in a big, big way.
And now a little update ![]()
I had a VERY weird interview today with a very, very Christian company in the Springs (though not Focus on the Family
). When they called to schedule the interview, they called me back to tell me it was a Christian company, and asked if I was "ok working in that environment." I said of course, so off to the interview I went!
I'm very qualified skills-wise, and the conversation with the interviewer was good. There's not a chance I'm getting the job, though, since he told me his number one priority was to hire someone who "really believed in the mission & vision of the company, and was really passionate about it." So I'm pretty sure that this liberal, non-church-going Jew isn't quite the candidate they are looking for, but it was a great conversation and interviewing is always good practice.
AND. . . I have an interview tomorrow for a job in Greeley. It's a total departure from what I've done before, and pays about half of what I made previously, but I'm excited about it. It sounds like a cool job, and a new direction, so I'm crossing my fingers that they like me and will come up on the dollars.
Thank you all for the juju - it's working!! And because of you, I feel like there's actually a light at the end of this brutally long tunnel. In so many ways, you have literally saved me. So thank you ![]()
Re: Another THANK YOU & a tiny update :)
Katie Talks About...
I've applied for lots of jobs in Christian and Catholic organizations... it's what's available in social services right now so that's where I might end up. I don't disclose that I'm Jewish (then again, I haven't been given an interview so...) but I probably wouldn't lie and say that I completely align with their mission spiritually... so hard to say. I'd hate to say something in an interview that would make me ineligible for a job (ANY job) right now...
I really hope the interview in Greeley is something awesome for you! Can't wait to hear all about it!

Good luck! And I happen to know you haven't seen the last of the mail. We're all rooting for you.
And I lived in Greeley for 20 years. Very family friendly, IMO. hope it goes well.

Thank you - for now AND future! I went to school in Greeley, so I'm pretty comfortable there, but we actually wouldn't move, I don't think. We live on the north end of Denver, so it's about 50 minutes away. I'd probably just commute, especially if I can do 7-4 or something like that!
We'll see - for now, it's just nice to not feel like there's no options at all!

Yay for good news! Continued hugs, thoughts & prayers.
