Hi all,
I'm new to the Nest boards, and new to Tulsa. My DH and I moved here from Maine/Michigan about 6 months ago. Back in Maine I had a General Practitioner/Women's Health Doctor that I absolutely loved! Unfortunately we had to move away because of job changes and now we find ourselves here in Tulsa.
Now it's come time for my yearly exam and I'm struggling to find a great Women's Health Doctor/Gynecologist. We are at the stage in our lives where we are sure we don't want kids anytime soon but we are not ready to rule out the possibility of children in the future. I need a doctor who is very knowledgeable about birth control and birth control options. I've been on the pill since I was 16 (and have tried many many different kinds of pills, as well as the depo shot). I'm to a point though where the hormonal birth control is KILLING my sex drive. My poor DH is lucky if he gets it twice a month... and I used to love sex!
Anyway, I need a doctor who is knowledgeable, helpful, forward thinking, and somewhat liberal. I don't want a doctor who's main concern and practice is delivering babies. I want someone who treats women and women's health issues, not just pregnancy and getting pregnant. Also I would prefer a female doctor. I am just not comfortable with a male doctor poking around down there... I feel like a woman doctor is more likely to relate to my own issues.
If anyone has any recommendations I would be very very grateful! Thanks in advance!
Re: Need a Tulsa Gynocologist
Both of these are great doctors in the Tulsa area.
Tracy Lakin with Women's Health Group or anyone in their office
Dr Woodruff with Green Country Healthcare for Women
