Train from London to Paris???

Hello planning a trip to London/Paris just wondering if anyone has taken this train or is familiar with it.  Would you be able to tell me whether it runs on a daily basis and about how much is costs.

Re: Train from London to Paris???

  • It only leaves from St. Pancras Track 9 and 3/4 every other Tuesday, except in Leap Years, when it is every other Wednesdsy and it costs one meeeeeelion dollars.

Yeah that's right my name's Yauch!
  • Hehehe, there are tons of trains daily.  The trip takes about 2.5 hours and ticket prices are calculated the same way as airfare - demand, time of day, how far in advance, etc.  The last time we took the trip, the tickets cost about 125USD round trip.

Just follow the link that was posted to look at prices and times ;)

By the way, I would MUCH prefer to take the train.  Because of immigration, security, and general airport hassles, the train is actually quicker (even though flights are only 45 minutes).  Plus, you go from city center to city center!

All of this. And the center to center bit is what I love about it. That and not having to fly.

Ha ha. There were tons of tourists at St Pancras when I was there this summer. Didn't help that the movie premiere was the same day.

OP - definitely take the train. It's about 2.5 hours from Paris to London. Note, there's a great champagne bar on the train platform at St Pancras. You can have a yummy meal and champagne and literally touch the trains.

  • We took the train from London to Paris in November.  Could not have been easier.  It was an easy and enjoyable ride.  We bought a carnet of tickets on the train for use on the metro in Paris- I highly suggest doing that.  There was a little bit of a surcharge but it was so much easier to get off the train and jump straight onto the metro to our hotel, rather than wait in the Metro ticket lines.

  • I'm going to Paris in September with my hubby. We are considering spending a couple days in London and I think the train is a good idea. I am wondering though, how is it with luggage? I assume we would have to travel pretty light...??

Another option is to fly, and we actually found rates to be cheaper on our first round of research. However, as someone pointed out, it's probably more difficult with dealing with customs,etc...
