So, we are pretty lucky with little S. She is a pretty decent sleeper... and a pretty laidback/ easy going baby all around. The last month or so has been a bit rough sleep-wise due to some gas issues.
DH has had three suggestions that he's learned from Dr. Google
1- ferber method-- he wants to start ferberizing her next month... My response: She goes to bed fine! She wakes up because of gas or she's hungry.
2- rice cereal in bottle-- he thinks it would help her sleep longer... again, same response from me, she's waking up mostly due to gas and then wants comfort from nursing (she falls asleep most of the time within 2 minutes of nursing).
3- move her bed time later so she sleeps later-- My response: she's telling us she's ready for bed at 730, she's not waking up to play or because she's done sleeping... for the most part, I have to wake her up in the morning to go to daycare.
I absolutely love that DH is invested but his interpretation of her sleep issues are hilarious. How does he know what's going on when he's snoring thru it all! I tried to word this so as to not complain about him... but it sounds complainy-- it's mostly that I'm amused at his ideas and problem-solving... but he's totally off base!
Re: DH + google = interesting parenting ideas
I think it's funny and kind of cute. He's trying to be helpful, since he knows that you are missing out on sleep, but like you said, he doesn't know why she's waking up since he gets to sleep through it.
P.S. I did not read any of that as you complaining about him

well, we're considering Ferberizing them next month (really march, after they're 6 mo adjusted), but right now they're still so HUNGRY overnight!
The rice is funny though
No nutritional value at all. My MIL keeps saying how her pedi pushed it at 3 mo, etc...yea, rice cereal exists for babies because until recently it was really hard to suspend iron in formula...not because it has nutritional value on its own OR make a difference in sleep...
Emily- I totally think Ferber method is FINE! It's more that it isn't necessary with S at this point.
Between gifts and items that were passed on we have probably 10-15 boxes of rice cereal. I have no idea what to do with it. I don't even know if it's worth it to donate it?
Well lets just say rice cereal=constipation for Maddy so we never made it through the 1st box. Baby oatmeal she tolerated a little better but we only used about one box of that too. I might say donate it to a local womens and childrens shelter or food pantry if you want it gone as they might still be of use to someone
