Induction scheduled.....

I am beyond flabbergasted that I've made it this far even!

At my OB appt today, she officially scheduled my induction date for 1/24 (38 weeks 1 day) since that is considered term for twins and the placenta stops supporting them as much as they need.  My perinatologist recommended it too.

Very nervous, and feeling like a ticking time bomb.  I'm REALLY hoping to not need the induction but hope to still make it into next week.

I'm also scared about my water breaking if I am alone during the day while DH is at work.  I'm not sure if I should wait for him to come pick me up if that happens or call an ambulance (it just seems excessive to do that).  However, I am already 2-3cm dilated, 90% effaced, and the OB commented that Baby A is extremely far down ("like she is going to fall out").  I'm nervous that even with a first pregnancy/delivery, I could go quickly.....

In my ideal world, my water would break sometime when DH is home.....we have a 20-30 minute drive to the hospital.  The worst part if I have to call an ambulance is they won't take me to "my" hospital since it definitely isn't the closest one to us.  (My OB doesn't have any rights at any of the other hospitals.)

Anyways, hard to believe I'll be meeting these girls soon!!! :)  Very excited!

Re: Induction scheduled.....

  • That's exciting! And there every reason to think it will be at a perfect time when DH is right there and you will be off to the hospital with plenty of time. :)

  • That's great that you've made it this far!

FWIW, my labor started with my water breaking both times, and it happened around 1am both times when I woke up to pee (once conveniently on the toilet, one in bed)

  • What about local Nestie backup? Have a few numbers available for a water breakage hospital run?
  • sending lots of juju that things happen while your DH is home...congrats on carrying those little girls to full term...that's HUGE!  I can't wait to see pictures and hear about them!
no identifiable siggy pictures anymore, thanks a lot stupid nest!
  • The good news is that most labors don't start with water breaking, most start with contractions.  It will most likely be when DH is around so don't worry too much about that.  Good luck!

  • Oh and I've ad three very fast labors (two considered precipitous) and still made it to where I wanted to deliver each time with at least an hour to spare, even when I had a long drive an even with my first when I labored at home for a couple hours.

  • Way to go - it's so great.  And it's not common to be able to take twins to full term, right?

Oh and like Schoolsout, I too started both my labors with my water breaking first...both in the middle of the night (closer to 3am for me) and while I was sleeping.  From what I was told by my midwives, your pregnancy hormones surge at night so it is pretty common to have your water break in the wee hours of the morning.  Oh and even with my second, it was still a 5+ hour labor, so I wouldn't worry about DH coming home in time to help you get to the hospital, but a backup friend or Nestie who could bring you to the hospital to meet DH is not a bad idea either.

Yay for twins at almost 37 weeks already!

Are you united with the CCOKCs?

  • Congrats on making it full term! I hope your labor starts on it's own and at the perfect time for you and your Dh!!!
