Re: Friday Five

  • 1. Do you allow yourself a time to splurge on your shopping indulgences? I don't really have any crazy expensive shopping indulgences...I've never really bought anything that was super pricey. As far as shopping goes, though, I spend around $50 a month on clothes unless there is a huge sale -- then I go crazy!

    2. What is your favorite meal to cook for yourself? I love making baked veggies -- they're my absolute favorite food in the world!

    3. Five years ago, did you envision yourself where you are today (career wise, married, etc)? Did I ever think DH and I would find our way back to each other...nope. God works in mysterious ways. I hoped for where I am right now, but definitely didn't expect it! Careerwise, five years ago, my photography business didn't even exist, so I can't say that was on my dream radar.

    4. Where do you envision yourself five years from now? I would love to be more consistent in birth documentary sessions with my photography business. DH and I would love to have started a family by then and, God willing, have a house that we are fixing up.

    5. Plans for the (long ?) weekend? It's a long weekend? Wow - I had no idea! :)

  • 1. Do you allow yourself a time to splurge on your shopping indulgences? Is it a reward for something or just when you feel like it? I don't tend to "indulge" in expensive things - I think I'm just cheap haha! But I do love love love to shop especially when I can find good sales - it's pretty random not usually a reward.

    2. What is your favorite meal to cook for yourself? hmm that's hard! Probably some sort of pasta with homemade meatsauce? We are more into trying new recipes lately.

    3. Five years ago, did you envision yourself where you are today (career wise, married, etc)? Kinda? By that point I probably knew (hoped?) I was going to marry DH and live where I live. I probably thought I'd still be doing criminal law, but otherwise yeah I envisioned the whole married/lawyer/house/dog thing.

    4. Where do you envision yourself five years from now? Hopefully still with my firm and thriving! And probably with a kid or two - eeeek. By then DH's parents will probably be living here and mine will be here part time.

    5. Plans for the (long ?) weekend? Boooo I don't have a long weekend. Sucks! DH is coming home tonight from being gone all week so we will probably go out to dinner and then just veg out. A friend is coming to visit tomorrow and likely will just cook, drink and watch football the rest of the weekend. GO GIANTS!

  • 1. Do you allow yourself a time to splurge on your shopping indulgences? Is it a reward for something or just when you feel like it? Only if I really need it. We are trying to save for a house in 2013.

    2. What is your favorite meal to cook for yourself? Meatloaf or Meatball with season potatoes

    3. Five years ago, did you envision yourself where you are today (career wise, married, etc)? Career:Yes, In the Construction Industry but with a salary of $84K not there yet. Married No... I didn't think DH and I would ever get on the same page.

    4. Where do you envision yourself five years from now? I rather not say only for I am a superstitious person.. If I say it may not come true

    5. Plans for the (long ?) weekend. No plans... Still working my baby neices designs for her Mickey & Friends 2nd bithday party.

  • 1. Do you allow yourself a time to splurge on your shopping indulgences? Is it a reward for something or just when you feel like it? We randomly splurge on things. We don't go shopping all that often for things so it's pretty much when we just feel like it.

    2. What is your favorite meal to cook for yourself? I don't really like to cook so anything that is simple and fast.

    3. Five years ago, did you envision yourself where you are today (career wise, married, etc)? No, not at all. I thought I might be married but I never thought I would be expecting our first child. I was soooo not ready back then and even thinking about it was scary. I also thought I'd be making more money and maybe be in school for a master's.

    4. Where do you envision yourself five years from now? As a homeowner with hopefully a better paying job.

    5. Plans for the (long ?) weekend? Today: I'm off work for Lee-Jackson Day and I'm waiting for an appliance guy to come look at our dryer (thankfully we rent so if it's broken I don't have to pay to fix it!) and cleaning around the house a little.

Saturday: Going to DC for my niece's 2nd birthday. It's actually today but the family is getting together tomorrow. Going to dinner up there with Craig and maybe an old friend of mine that lives up there.

Sunday: Laundry and errands and all that fun stuff.

Monday: Off work for MLK, Jr. day. I'm not sure what I'm doing but I'm sure it will involve cleaning and organizing the house some more. There's still tons to get done before this baby arrives!

  • 1. Do you allow yourself a time to splurge on your shopping indulgences? Is it a reward for something or just when you feel like it? I don't often splurge...instead I buy stuff as I see it's on sale or if I need it (like jeans).

    2. What is your favorite meal to cook for yourself? Baked ziti!

    3. Five years ago, did you envision yourself where you are today (career wise, married, etc)? Yes....b/c I was with DH and was in the same job I'm in now. I was hoping we'd have a house by now...but at least we're closer and out of apt living!

    4. Where do you envision yourself five years from now? With a child or two, debt mostly paid off and living in a house of our very own!

    5. Plans for the (long ?) weekend? Nothing overly exciting! Probably doing some wedding related shopping/activities with my friend who is getting married next month. I also need to clean.

  • 1. Do you allow yourself a time to splurge on your shopping indulgences? Is it a reward for something or just when you feel like it? No not right now. I used to every once and a while, go out and grab a new piece of clothing or pair of shoes usually when the seasons changed....

    2. What is your favorite meal to cook for yourself? Steak.....though if I'm being honest....I REALLY like to bake for myself as a treat which can totally be a meal....right?....

    3. Five years ago, did you envision yourself where you are today (career wise, married, etc)? Yes mostly. Though I thought I'd be closer to having a baby.....

    4. Where do you envision yourself five years from now? I REALLY hope to have a baby and be considering a second.

    5. Plans for the (long ?) weekend? My plan is NOT a long weekend BOO. We have work on Monday....BLAH. However tomorrow I'll bake and Sunday we are watching the football game at a friends house.

  • 1. Do you allow yourself a time to splurge on your shopping indulgences? Is it a reward for something or just when you feel like it?  Sometimes I get in the mood to shop, which is bad b/c I usually make several stops :-P I usually do it when I have sales and coupons in my favor though!

    2. What is your favorite meal to cook for yourself? I love Rachael Ray's crabcakes and her spring chicken roll ups (with proscuitto, cheese and asparagus inside) with a lemon-dijon pan gravy. SO yummy!

    3. Five years ago, did you envision yourself where you are today (career wise, married, etc)? Career wise NO I had no idea I would be getting into property management. I was in retail and just getting up to here with the BS of the store owner and long hours. I was with DH so I hoped I would have been married by now, so unless he screwed up I figured we would be. Kid wise I went into the relationship expecting to not have kids of my own so that's right where I figured. I had about a week or so of scratching my head about that decision but that was after I spent a bunch of time around my niece who's really good.

    4. Where do you envision yourself five years from now? In a house of our own for sure, without wallpaper and our own bathroom with no tile on the ceiling (yuck!). Not sure if I will continue property management or now but my employers are doing thing to keep me from perusing elsewhere lately. We'll see I guess!

    5. Plans for the (long ?) weekend? Tonight vegging w/hubby, tomorrow I have a 4 hr+ training for Arbonne, will stop to shop with my Old Navy groupons, coupon and rewards certificate (yay!) and DH is in charge of dinner :-)  Sunday I might go to another Arbonne party my area manager is testing out(a Healthy Happy Hour). Monday is veg and do "me" day :-) Probably getting a bunch of photos scanned to add to my digital photo frame collection!

  • 1. Do you allow yourself a time to splurge on your shopping indulgences? Is it a reward for something or just when you feel like it? In normal times, I'll go out every once in a while and blow a few hundred on clothes or something.  I'm not a huge shopper so when I go to a mall every few months I tend to spend a lot. Of course right now I'm trying not to spend anything on myself since we have so much baby stuff we need to get.

    2. What is your favorite meal to cook for yourself? Macaroni and cheese, or baked ziti.

    3. Five years ago, did you envision yourself where you are today (career wise, married, etc)? Career-wise, I'm probably a little behind because I didn't envision surviving two mergers, multiple rounds of layoffs, hiring/promotion freezes, etc. which led to me being at the same level and pretty much same salary for over 4 years. But, the economy was much better 5 years ago so I think many others are in the same boat.

Personal life wise I think I'm better off. I started dating DH about 4 1/2 years ago, so 5 years ago I had pretty much no prospects and the thought of being married with a baby on the way was not on the radar screen - even though that is what I always wanted.  Of course if you go back 10 years I am behind, I thought I would have two school age kids by now. Oh well.

    4. Where do you envision yourself five years from now? Settled into our 4 bedroom house in a pleasant suburb with two kids, a dog, and our 3 cats. Probably at the same company but hopefully in a higher level position.

    5. Plans for the (long ?) weekend? Tomorrow, just cleaning/running errands. On Sunday we are going to visit my family and seeing my niece's band concert. Monday, I am not sure - DH and I both have off so we talked about doing something but not sure what yet. It may depend on the weather.

  • 1. Do you allow yourself a time to splurge on your shopping indulgences? Is it a reward for something or just when you feel like it?  I usually only go to the mall to shop when I have some coupons or someone is having a good sale

    2. What is your favorite meal to cook for yourself? hmmm, that's hard, maybe homemade pizza

    3. Five years ago, did you envision yourself where you are today (career wise, married, etc)? not really, at the time my old job was going ok but I was hoping for a promotion that I never got

DH and I had just started dating a few months ago, so everything was still new there.  I knew pretty early on that he was the one I wanted to marry though.

    4. Where do you envision yourself five years from now? hopefully in a house with 2 kids, maybe a new better paying job for both me and Greg

    5. Plans for the (long ?) weekend? not a long weekend for us, but our plan is to do as little as possible. We will obviously do some laundry and maybe some cleaning but that's about it.  Sunday we will go to church and maybe out to lunch before we come home to watch the Packers game.  I want to do some cooking/baking too this weekend maybe.

  • 1. Do you allow yourself a time to splurge on your shopping indulgences? Is it a reward for something or just when you feel like it? When I'm in a shopping mood, I really like to go window shopping, but I hate spending money so there has to be a good deal if I'm actually going to buy something

    2. What is your favorite meal to cook for yourself? Probably stuffed peppers

    3. Five years ago, did you envision yourself where you are today (career wise, married, etc)? I definitely didn't expect to be married, so really where I am today is even better than what I had imagined 5 years ago :)

    4. Where do you envision yourself five years from now? I would love to have a house and family in the next 5 years, oh and a stable job - I'm still in grad school

    5. Plans for the (long ?) weekend? DH is coming to visit this weekend!!!  He and I have been long distance since he started his job at Google - which is good because I can work really hard to finish my PhD but also bad because I miss him!!! I'm super excited to spend the long weekend with him!

  • 1. Do you allow yourself a time to splurge on your shopping indulgences? Is it a reward for something or just when you feel like it?

I am definitely not impulsive, but I do splurge.  I have to actually watch out and stop doing that!

    2. What is your favorite meal to cook for yourself?

Just for myself?  When DH is traveling (which he does often for work) I make myself mac and cheese or an omelette.  It's my favorite dinner to make when it's just me!

    3. Five years ago, did you envision yourself where you are today (career wise, married, etc)?

Actually, yes.  Five years ago I had been dating hubby for about a year, but we hadn't really had the "marriage" discussion yet.  We were definitely serious, though, so I figured we'd be married soon enough.  Careerwise, not really.  Five years ago I was just starting on my Master's degree and I wasn't sure if I was going to even end up finishing, much less actually change careers.  Interesting....

    4. Where do you envision yourself five years from now?

One kid, definitely.  Still working...maybe in this school, maybe not.  But definitely in high school counseling.  We will definitely be in our same house, because we just spent a small fortune on a furnace, and we have heat for the next 25 years, so that's how long I'm staying LOL

    5. Plans for the (long ?) weekend?

Tonight and tomorrow, nothing (which I am THRILLED about).  Just the usual cleaning, errands, food shopping.  I want to do lots of reading, I've been slacking on my book.

Sunday, we are going to my aunt's house to visit a little bit, we are celebrating two of my cousins' birthdays, belatedly.  So we'll have cake, and I'll probably make something to bring.

Monday, I'm off (YAY!) and I am going to a 9:30 am yoga class and then for a pedicure.  It's going to be awesome!

  • 1. Do you allow yourself a time to splurge on your shopping indulgences? Is it a reward for something or just when you feel like it?  Yeah - recently i've needed bigger clothes.... otherwise I have a pretty decent wardrobe...  if I do a wedding or something and I need an expensive item i will often give in fairly easily

    2. What is your favorite meal to cook for yourself?  i like mac and cheese, from the box.  lol

    3. Five years ago, did you envision yourself where you are today (career wise, married, etc)?  for the most part yes - tho i think i had visions of being a principal tho now i'm content w/ being a teacher for a lil bit

    4. Where do you envision yourself five years from now?  gee who knows?  2 kids?  bigger house?

    5. Plans for the (long ?) weekend?  Tonight - Dr's Appt, Haircut, suprrise 30th party for a friend... Tomorrow - mall w/ mom in the AM, gym w/ Sami, then P A T R I O T S  game!!!  Sunday - bfast, food shopping, and maybe hitting up a baby store to scope out some furniture...  Monday! - gym and oil change!  exiting!  lol

    Have a good weekend!

Edit - ok I had to share this link as it is HILARIOUS!!!  Even if you hate my boy Brady this is priceless!

  • 1. Do you allow yourself a time to splurge on your shopping indulgences? Is it a reward for something or just when you feel like it?  Every now and then I do.  I mostly stress shop and I usually don't spend that much.

    2. What is your favorite meal to cook for yourself?  Homemade pizza.  I could eat it every day it so nummy!

    3. Five years ago, did you envision yourself where you are today (career wise, married, etc)?  Career wise, yes; relationship and family wise--no!

    4. Where do you envision yourself five years from now?  Probably same job, maybe another kid, and just enjoying life!

    5. Plans for the (long ?) weekend?  No long weekend for me :(  Tomorrow:  Shaun has a daddy bootcamp class tomorrow so I will probably do some stuff around the house.  Later, we are going out to eat for his mom's birthday.  Sunday:  church and Packer game!!

  • 1. Do you allow yourself a time to splurge on your shopping indulgences? Is it a reward for something or just when you feel like it? I usually get what I want when I want it. If I'm realllly loving a purse I'll get it

    2. What is your favorite meal to cook for yourself? Usually something DH doesn't like, brown rice with veggies and chicken with soy sauce

    3. Five years ago, did you envision yourself where you are today (career wise, married, etc)? pretty much..I honestly didn't think I'd be married, though

    4. Where do you envision yourself five years from now? with a couple kids, same field

    5. Plans for the (long ?) weekend? i wish it was a long weekend...but no. I have a bridal show this weekend and hanging out with my parents tomorrow

  • 1. Do you allow yourself a time to splurge on your shopping indulgences? Is it a reward for something or just when you feel like it? Very rarely do I splurge on things for me, and I usually don't reward myself because if I have said I really want something DH will try to make it happen.

    2. What is your favorite meal to cook for yourself? Shrimp Pasta

    3. Five years ago, did you envision yourself where you are today (career wise, married, etc)? Not quite, I guess I figured I would be in my dream career and that hasn't really happened yet.

    4. Where do you envision yourself five years from now? Pretty much the same as now, but with a new job!

    5. Plans for the (long ?) weekend? Nothing at all....

  • 1. Do you allow yourself a time to splurge on your shopping indulgences? Is it a reward for something or just when you feel like it?  A couple times a year I will.  Usually around the holidays I'll buy myself a "gift", and again during the spring I'll treat myself to a new warm-weather wardrobe.

    2. What is your favorite meal to cook for yourself? Probably jambalaya or this reuben chicken dish or reuben casserole I found a recipe for.

    3. Five years ago, did you envision yourself where you are today (career wise, married, etc)?  Actually, no.  I had just moved out of my parents' house then into an apartment and I was still single, going out all the time and chasing guys 10 years younger than me.  Little did I know I was going to be owning a home with my best friend (not my MOH, LOL!).

    4. Where do you envision yourself five years from now?  Out of debt and helping plan Amanda's graduation party (then planning a huge vacation after DH is done with child support!)

    5. Plans for the (long ?) weekend?  Chilling all weekend....and I cannot WAIT!  After 2 weekends of holiday festivities followed by our niece's 21st birthday bar bash, we are ecstatic to stay in and watch football in our bum clothes.  We'll be throwing in dinner out and some shopping tomorrow as well - we have a GC for Lowe's so we want to see if we can find a gas blower/vacuum on sale, then we're torn between buying a new treadmill or a bigger TV for the bedroom/PS3.  Go Saints!

  • 1. Do you allow yourself a time to splurge on your shopping indulgences? Is it a reward for something or just when you feel like it? Sometimes. It helps that I have to drive at least 45 minutes to get any good shopping in for clothes, so when I do, it is far and in between. I am more that buys a bunch at once, instead of an item here and there.

    2. What is your favorite meal to cook for yourself? Um, I really, REALLY love my spaghetti.  I also love this Chicken Piccata recipe that is in a diet cookbook. It is so yummy, and not unhealthy at all.

    3. Five years ago, did you envision yourself where you are today (career wise, married, etc)? Um, I was hoping to be about year forward on the family train, but things took a little longer than I thought they would. Definitely didn't see us getting the house we are in right now, but I LOVE it (Jeff MAJORLY spoiled me on that one...).  Career wise, I thought I would by a SAHM mom by now, but again, that got delayed a bit...

    4. Where do you envision yourself five years from now? Um, I see this baby in preschool and the second (hopefully) just here or on the way. Hopefully I am still at home raising my kids and working from home with my current agency.  I don't really see us ever leaving the house we are in right now, but depending on finances, I am hoping to have our addition done by that point (a girl can dream, right?).

    5. Plans for the (long ?) weekend? Weekend is over. I will post on a Monday post... : )
