Paris at the end of April? Restaurants?
Hi! Has anyone been to Paris at the end of April? If so, any advice? How was the weather? My husband and I are going for our 1 year anniversary. I have been before but my husband has not. Any recs for restaurants? Our hotel is near the Eiffel Tower. Thanks!
Re: Paris at the end of April? Restaurants?
The atmosphere at Le Cafe du Commerce was probably the best of any restaurant I've been to. So funky and there were no other tourists when I was there.
We weren't given an English menu but I remember reading afterwards they did have one. So I WTF that, but overall I recommend.
We were there last year at the end of April. I think the weather was good -- I'd usually wear jeans with a thin t-shirt and light cardigan. The only thing to be aware of is that May 1 is a holiday.
As far as restaurants, we at at Le Petit Pontoise on our last two trips and really enjoyed it.
Here's my blog post about the trip last year if you'd like to take a look.

If you want to splurge, DH and I did dinner at Guy Savoy (his original restaurant is the Paris one) in June for my 30th birthday and we loved it. We both did the tasting menu with wine pairings; it came out to be about $1,300 total after tax (and the exchange rate), but you can do their lunch menu for less, I believe. Also note that our dinner tasting menu ended up being about 13 courses - took about 4 hours to get through it all!
Incredible meal. And Guy Savoy came by and chatted with us which was great (but note, we're big foodies now after years living in SF so we think those types of experiences are worth the $$$ - they're certainly not for everyone).
Sandwiches from Paul's are always good for a lunch on the go.
I regularly dream about the roasted chicken from Brasserie Balzar. I also had an amazing meal at Chez Francoise - odd location - in the Air France Bus Terminal, but amazing food. We also love the off the beaten path type places that aren't fancy but filled with locals. Coupe Torchon (sp?) near the Pantheon is one of these.
