Macon GA- hotel recs? Mid- feb trip for wedding

My family is invited to a wedding (Feb. 18th) in Macon GA. We will be driving (its about 4-5 hours one way from us). I'd like to go down on Friday and leave on Sunday.

Any hotel recs? I've been on expedia and travelocity (and concurrently the bedbug registry) and so far the frontrunner is Homewood Suites.

I'd love to have a room that has a separate bedroom and living area because of having my 1.5 yr old and almost 4 yr old with us.

(indoor pool would be a bonus)

And any tips for traveling with 2 kids would be great too. We've never traveled more than an hour away with both- and not overnight at all.

  • There is also a Springhill Suites as well (not too far from where the Homewood is).  I believe the Springhill is indoor pool and I know the Homewood has an outdoor - not sure about indoor.  Both of these are on the north side of town and right off I-75 and close to plenty of chain dining and the newer shopping mall.

If you are looking for something closer to downtown, there is a Hilton Garden Inn and the Marriott City Center.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

  • I would also recomend the Springhill Suites.  It is very close to the highway and quite a few restaurants.

I travel with my 4 children all the time.  I usually have each of them pack a small backback with a snuggle, a few small toys, coloring books and crayons.  I also pack a small cooler with drinks and snacks to use while traveling and at the hotel.  I also bring a small air matress with me just in case.

  • Thanks! I think I am now leaning more towards Springhill.
