OPI Muppet Glitter peeps, help

So I love the OPI Muppet glitters, my favs are Rainbow Connection & Gettin' Miss Piggy With it.

HOW do I keep them from chipping???  I tried OPI Chip Skip (which works awesome on regular polish) but doesn't help with the glitters. ETA: I haven't tried using a base coat first, does that help?

TIA!

Re: OPI Muppet Glitter peeps, help

  • I've tried it all and it still chips. I have 3 of the glitter colors. I'm happy if it lasts through a whole day :(
  • Even with a base coat it still chips. I was repairing them daily.

However, they do not chip on my toes. I did my toes right before Christmas and they still look great. Weird.

  • I did one finger (thumb) at AB's house to test it and by the next morning it had chipped and then peeled off completely by the end of the day.
  • I have used 2 of the glitter polishes on my toes and they look great (no chipping, and I wear sandals all.the.time!!!). Never tried putting it on my fingers though.
no identifiable siggy pictures anymore, thanks a lot stupid nest!
  • I wear a ton of glitter polish and I find the best way is to do a base coat, then a couple layers of a background color (which is super fun btw because it totally changes the way it looks) and then the glitter. Follow with top coat (Seche Vite is a fave because it's so thick) and make sure you also wrap it around the tip of your nail toward your finger/underneath nail. I find the last step the most important. Let me know if it works for you! :)

I've done this with the glitter and it still chips easily. I've done base coat, 2 layers of a background color, and then glitter tips (over the edge) with a top coat. Chips easily.
