FFF

it has been a hellish week at work.....i am counting down the hours tonight for some quality couch time with DH, bad movies from Red Box, a bottle(s?) of wine, Costco crab dip and some type of "Simply Enjoy" frozen app crap from giant. aren't i just the hippest girl you know?

meanwhile, puppy has developed another huge huge lump. she had surgery two years ago for a hernia and it is either back or it is something work. she is going to vet this afternoon. i am sure she is going to need surgery. i am a terrible person b/c i told dh to ask the vet how critical a surgery would be or if she can just live with this....she does not appear to be in pain at all. i really don't want to spend $$$$ on another dog surgery. (we will but i don't want to!)

Re: FFF

  • I'll be thinking good Wrigley thoughts! I hope it's something totally benign.

It's 10am and I"m still in my pajamas (yay compressed day!).

We are attempting potty training boot camp this weekend and I don't know what I'm doing. Haven't read anything. Hope the kid survives.

  • I went home sick from work on Monday.  Was out Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.  Today i'm completely better, but didn't go to work because I know all hell broke loose without me there and I don't want it to ruin my weekend.

and mother effer. I just sewed the hole in the armpit of a dress i've worn twice and put it on, when i was pulling the arm on (for some reason the arms are super tight but the rest of the dress is normal fitting) i freaking ripped another hole in it!  So, i'm going around today with holes in my dress.

  • This is flame free but on me:

I'm so tired.  I get up at 4:30 am during the week everyday so I can go to boot camp which is outside regardless of the weather (yes, I chose to do this but I enjoy it).  I bust my butt sweating until 6:30, drive the 30 minutes back home to shower, change and start work by 9.  ALL I want is a day to sleep.  The weekends don't give me much sleep either since it's always running around, helping friends etc.  Can I just curl up in a blanket for an entire weekend, take the phone off the hook, power off my cell phone and have DH go away for a weekend so I can get a weekend of peace?   And DH wonders why I can't stay awake past 9:30 during the week and 10:30 on the weekend.

Aw, poor Wrigley.  Don't feel like a bad mom - we were going to have KJ's hernia on her belly removed (it is really big, if you ask me) and the vet herself said that as long as it isn't bothering her that we should refrain from removing it for two reasons - a. it's expensive and b. there is no need to open her up and risk infection, etc, unless it is medically necessary to remove it.  she said that it was generally cosmetic and that they would measure it every once in a while and address it if it got larger.

My FFF is that DH and I are planning on cleaning out the basement today, and though we haven't started yet, I KNOW that he is going to veto 95% of what I want to get rid of/donate.  I mentioned the two bags of dog toys that I wanted to donate and he said "nooooooo... those are some of her favorite toys!  We can't get rid of them!"  Dude - there is a basket of toys in our bedroom closet that hasn't been touched in two years - and these two bags haven't been touched in 6 months.  Come on.  Just wait til we get to his stuff.  I should have waited to schedule this trash pickup for a weekend that he wasn't going to be around - but I need help getting this furniture to the curb.  Grr.

  • I'm really, really looking forward to girls night out tonight and DH is giving me crap because DD has been teething and had a rough couple of nights recently. He doesn't know what to do because he can't nurse her, which seems to make her feel better, but I don't care. I need this night out and a night away from DH. Love him, but momma needs her girl time. I don't feel the least bit guilty about it. She'll survive and so will he.

This sounds just like me and my husband. I took a sick day a few weeks ago and made the executive decision to Freecycle several items and trash a bunch of others. It was awesome. I can't wait to do it again.

  • I have a few today:

I think it is total BS that I had to write an essay for preschool admission. But, I did it and it better get us to the interview step.

My old boss got fired and I have not an ounce of sympathy. But, I am now curious how my review is going to get completed.

DH has been doing daycare drop off all week and I realized last night that I somehow got screwed in the whole decision about who got drop-off and who got pick-up . Pick-up is so much less stressful.

I am annoyed that we are going to meet our out of pocket maximum health care $$s before the end of February. And, I am equally more annoyed that we are probably going to owe the government money for taxes.

  • I am actively trying to get someone fired.  Have never done that before, but now her incompentence is impacting me.  And she tried (unsuccessfully) to throw me under the bus yesterday.
  • We're going to my niece #1's birthday party tomorow.

My SIL asked for a ride on her e-vite response - never asked us, just replied with a "Maybe" to the party, and the comment said "If chia and chiaDH can give us a ride, we'll be there..."  My comment back (also via evite comment), "sure - it will be a tight squeeze, but we can give you a ride."

Never heard from her, but assumed she and neice#2 still needed a ride.  Told my sister that we can't give her a ride, because the 6 of us wouldn't be able to fit in our subcompact car.

My niece#1 lives less than 25 miles from our house (MoCo to Springfield).  Ride-along SIL/niece#2 has an SUV, and a driver's license - but SIL doesn't want to drive by herself on the Beltway.

I find out this morning that she doesn't actually want/need a ride anymore.  Instead of going to the party when it starts, she and BIL (who isn't available at party time) are going to go earlier in the morning.  She never called, emailed, or had any other contact after weirdly roping us into giving her a ride via Evite comments.  She only told me she didn't want a ride after I e-mailed last night telling her we'd pick them up at 3.

    WTF?  So strange.

  • I'm glad Sprout can finally communicate with us, but OMFG it's driving me insane. He vocalizes every word he knows.  Going to Target is a freaking nightmare that goes something like this:

"cup! cup! cup! cup! cup!" when we walk past housewares or he sees someone with starbucks

"box! box! box! box! box!" basically all the time b/c they were restocking and so many things in that store are in a box

"puppy!  puppy!  woof woof! puppy puppy! woof woof!" when we pasted the pet aisle

"coat! coat! coat! coat!" when I was looking at clothes

    etc.

And, then when there wasn't anything he recognized & could say, he'd start pointing to me & say "mama! mama! mama! mama!" or pointing to various articles on his person ("shoes! shoes! shoes!" or "socks! socks! socks!" or "hat! hat! hat!")

drives me up the f'ing wall.

  • i don't usually participate in these, but it's been that kind of week!

i had a client show up 40 minutes late for an appointment, get pissy when i couldn't see her (i had another client after her appointment time and seeing her would infring upon that client's time) and claim ignorance when i reminded her (for the 4th documented time) that there was a $50 fee for missed appointments.

she claimed she couldn't find my address (uh, google?) and that she's bad with computers. well, she figured out quickly how to use the internet to email me a nasty letter making all kinds of wild and false accusations.

    *****

my son has been driving me totally bonkers lately. his behavior alternates between adorable and super obnoxious. he can't concentrate for more than 5 seconds to do something and if we aren't standing there, he will get distracted and forget what he was supposed to be doing. i really hope this is a phase b/c my patience is wearing thin with him. i can't wait to pick my kids up each afternoon, but an hour later, i'm looking forward to 8:30 the next morning when i can drop him off again. i hate that. i also hate that i'm dreading the weekend b/c DH will be working on monday and i'll be home with the kids. alone. with a bottle of wine.

My FFF might be the exact opposite.  Nathan, no matter how much repeating I've been doing chooses to just not even try to talk.  I think its something we'll def be discussing at his appt in 3 months unless the kid breaks out with a ton of words by then.  Til then, all he does is grunt and reach for things until we pick every single thing up that it might be and hand it over.  For me thats annoying because he clearly wants something and we just don't know what sometimes.

My FFF is also the opposite. We actually have Early Intervention coming today to evaluate the kiddos b/c they aren't talking. Piper might have one word but Fletch doesn't have some and has even regressed a bit with sounds he was making. I'm scared to death something is wrong with him. I'd give anything for either of them, but particularly Fletch, to start pointing and talking.

if it makes either of you feel better, his speech has just recently really taken off (I don't know if y'all saw teh numerous posts on the bump where I was sad he couldn't say 'mama'.)

Good luck to your kiddos & hope that one day very soon they will be talking so much you want to pull your hair out (as I was tempted to do today)

  • Kastle, I laughed at your post, because M does something similar. Except he points to everything and says "This? This?" until we identify the object. He even does this for things he knows, and he is very insistent that we answer him. I mostly think it's cute, but I end up walking around answering "Chair. Door. Mama. Mirror. Coat. Ball. Dog." pretty much 24/7.

This reminds me: I forgot to mention the non-stop "uh-oh!"

If he walks into a room & something is different, "uh oh! uh oh! uh oh!" on repeat.  Or if he sees a mess (like I've been cooking & the counters are littered with cutting boards & stuff) "uh oh! uh oh! uh oh!" with lots of pointing on repeat. Or he drops something or sees anyone else drop something.  Or because a door is closed but he wants it open. All "uh oh! uh oh! uh oh!" on repeat.  He won't stop saying it until we redirect him.
