This news story is so weird

A man goes missing on January 1.  It's reported to the police.  The police use search teams to try and find him.  Friends and family also form their own search teams.

They located his body last night....in his home.  He's married.

The police are not handling it like a suspicious death.

What in the world?????  First, wouldn't the police search his home first?  And if, in fact, he stuffed himself into some out-of-the-way closet and his wife didn't find him for 11 days, how bad must she be feeling?  Holy crap.

This is my siggy.

  • Were they hoarders?  I've seen some houses where you could have hidden an elephant!
Until you are happy with who you are, you will never be happy with what you have.
  • That is just gross and to weird to consider.  Please update us.  ;p

  • The only thing I can think of is that if the wife did not seem suspicious and reporter him missing quickly, maybe they trusted that she had searched the home and there wouldn't be many places a grown man would hide? I know with kids there's usually an extensive search of the home but there's lots of places they may hide and then think it's funny to not come out when called. Grown man, not so much.

Also sometimes the police play things reallllllly close to the vest. A few months ago a girl died here and for about three weeks everyone acted like it was a suicide - until the day they made an arrest. It was a really strange case though.

  • Wow. Stuffed in a closet, huh. Has all the makings of a natural death, right there.

From the way it's written, it sounds like it's probably pretty clear he committed suicide to police, and maybe he tucked himself away somewhere in the house to do it. Sad for his family and his wife.

  • This is bizzare. How big was the house? It sounds like either it was a suicide and a not very thorough search team or the wife is setting it up to look like a suicide and hid the body during the search. But to be fair, if my husband went missing, I don't think the closets would be the first place I would look.

  • Weird, this is morbid, but wouldn't they smell the body?

That's what I was wondering. Ew.

My grandpa committed suicide in 1997 and wasn't found for three days (my grandma was out of town). Even after his body had been removed, there was still an odor that we could smell on the fourth day when we went to clean up the room. I would imagine after 11 days it'd have been pretty gross.

    Oh, FFS.
  • They must have a bigass house.

If someone was dead in my house and I didn't trip over him, it means I didn't get off the couch.

I agree with everything that muddled said. You should listen to her. -ESDReturns
